# Pokémon with 4× Weaknesses: Every Type Pair and Who Takes 4× Damage

A Pokémon takes 4× damage from an attack when both of its types are weak to it. In the pokee.si data, 193 of 1,025 species have at least one 4× weakness, and 31 of them have two.

Single-type Pokémon can never have one: the 499 single-type species top out at 2×. For the multiplication behind it, see [dual-type weaknesses explained](https://pokee.si/articles/dual-type-weaknesses-explained). This page is about the Pokémon themselves.

## Who takes 4× damage from each type

The table is sorted by how many Pokémon are hit. Each type pair links to its dual-type page, which lists every Pokémon with that combination. The examples are four of the Pokémon in each group, not a ranking.

[Grass](https://pokee.si/types/grass) and [Ice](https://pokee.si/types/ice) are the most common 4× attacks, with 29 Pokémon each. The Grass pairs are all built from Rock, Ground and Water, which is why [Geodude](https://pokee.si/pokemon/geodude) and [Onix](https://pokee.si/pokemon/onix) show up under both Grass and Water. Ice mostly punishes Flying, Dragon and Ground combinations: an [Ice Beam](https://pokee.si/moves/ice-beam) does 4× to [Dragonite](https://pokee.si/pokemon/dragonite) and [Garchomp](https://pokee.si/pokemon/garchomp).

At the other end, [Ghost](https://pokee.si/types/ghost) and [Dark](https://pokee.si/types/dark) are 4× against only two Pokémon each, [Hoopa](https://pokee.si/pokemon/hoopa) and [Lunala](https://pokee.si/pokemon/lunala), who share Psychic/Ghost. [Electric](https://pokee.si/types/electric) hits only one pair for 4×, Water/Flying, but that pair includes [Gyarados](https://pokee.si/pokemon/gyarados), which takes 4× from a [Thunderbolt](https://pokee.si/moves/thunderbolt).

## Pokémon with two 4× weaknesses

31 species have two. Seven type pairs produce them, and each pair has the same two weaknesses every time.

## Well-known Pokémon and their 4× weakness

Twenty familiar Pokémon for reference. "None" in the 4× column means a dual-type Pokémon with no 4× weakness: Kingdra, Mamoswine, Lanturn, Ludicolo, Corviknight, Dragapult and Togekiss are all dual-typed and take at worst 2×.

## When the only weaknesses are 4×

Sixteen species have no 2× weakness at all, only 4× ones: Wooper, Quagsire, Forretress, Scizor, Marshtomp, Swampert, Barboach, Whiscash, Gastrodon, Palpitoad, Seismitoad, Escavalier, Durant, Genesect, Hoopa and Lunala. The Water/Ground Pokémon in that list have one thing to fear, Grass, and Bug/Steel Pokémon like [Scizor](https://pokee.si/pokemon/scizor) have Fire. Hoopa and Lunala are the exception, with two 4× weaknesses and nothing else.

## How Abilities and Tera change it

Abilities can move the numbers either way. [Levitate](https://pokee.si/abilities/levitate) removes a Ground weakness. [Thick Fat](https://pokee.si/abilities/thick-fat) halves Fire and Ice damage. [Solid Rock](https://pokee.si/abilities/solid-rock) and [Filter](https://pokee.si/abilities/filter) cut super-effective damage by a quarter. [Dry Skin](https://pokee.si/abilities/dry-skin) goes the other way: Fire moves do 25% more damage to the holder, so a Parasect with Dry Skin takes 5× from Fire.

In Scarlet and Violet, [Terastallization](https://pokee.si/guide/mechanics/terastallization) can remove a 4× weakness outright, because the Pokémon becomes one type and a single type can't be hit for 4×. The Stellar Tera Type is the exception: a Stellar Pokémon keeps its original types when it is hit. Ability and Tera effects are not in the tables above, which show type matchups only.

## Questions people ask

### Which Pokémon have 4× weaknesses?

Only Pokémon with two types, and only when both types are weak to the same attack. In the pokee.si data, 193 of 1,025 species have at least one 4× weakness, and none of the 499 single-type species can.

### Which Pokémon are 4× weak to Ice?

29 Pokémon, from six type pairs: Flying/Dragon, Grass/Flying, Ground/Flying, Ground/Dragon, Grass/Ground and Grass/Dragon. Garchomp, Dragonite and Gliscor are three of them.

### Which Pokémon have two 4× weaknesses?

31 species. They come from Bug/Grass (Fire and Flying), Rock/Ground (Water and Grass), Fire/Rock (Water and Ground), Rock/Steel (Fighting and Ground), Rock/Ice (Fighting and Steel), Psychic/Ghost (Ghost and Dark) and Ice/Bug (Fire and Rock).

### Can a Pokémon take 5× damage?

Yes, through an Ability. Dry Skin makes Fire moves do 25% more damage, so a Parasect with Dry Skin takes 5× from Fire.

### Can you get rid of a 4× weakness?

Sometimes. Terastallizing in Scarlet and Violet changes the Pokémon to one type, which removes the 4× weakness. Some Abilities also help, such as Levitate against Ground moves.
