# Where to Watch Pokémon: A Parent's Guide to the Anime

Parents often ask where their child can watch Pokémon, and the short answer is "it depends where you live". The anime has been running since 1997, so it is spread over several services. This page sticks to official sources and says plainly where we could not check something.

## The short version

There is no single official home. The Pokémon TV app used to be one, but Nintendo's support page says it stopped accepting new downloads on 8 January 2024 and closed on 28 March 2024. The page points people to a where-to-watch guide on pokemon.com instead. Open [The Pokémon Company's where-to-watch guide](https://www.pokemon.com/us/animation/where-to-watch-pokemon-episodes-movies) for the list that fits your country. When we opened the US version on 21 October 2026, it named streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Pluto TV, Tubi and The Roku Channel, shops where episodes and films can be bought or rented, and two official Pokémon YouTube channels. We do not copy the full list here, because it changes and differs by country.

## What we could confirm

Pokémon Horizons: The Series is on Netflix. Pokémon.com announced it on 7 March 2024, and Netflix describes it as two young adventurers exploring new lands and ancient mysteries.

Pokémon Concierge is a stop-motion Netflix series made with dwarf studios and announced on Pokémon Day 2023. Per Netflix, it follows Haru, who works as a concierge at a Pokémon resort.

Serebii lists short web series such as Pokémon: Hisuian Snow and Pokémon: Paldean Winds, alongside Pokémon Generations, Twilight Wings, Evolutions and PokéToon. These went out online rather than on TV. The pokemon.com guide links two official Pokémon YouTube channels, but we could not open the channels themselves to see what is up today, so check them directly.

## Films and specials

The series is only part of it. Serebii lists a run of Pokémon films, for example Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!, The Power of Us, Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution and Secrets of the Jungle, as well as the live-action Detective Pikachu film. We could not confirm which service carries each film in your country, so the official guide is the place to look.

## A word on YouTube copies

A search for Pokémon on YouTube turns up a lot of videos. Some are on the official channel, and some are copies uploaded by other people. If you want to be sure a video is official, follow the channel that pokemon.com links to, rather than a search result. A copy may be cut short or come with ads of its own.

## The series in order

Serebii lists the English-language series like this.

| Order | Series |
| --- | --- |
| 1 | The Indigo League |
| 2 | The Orange League |
| 3 | The Johto Saga |
| 4 | The Saga in Hoenn |
| 5 | Kanto Battle Frontier Saga |
| 6 | The Sinnoh Saga |
| 7 | Best Wishes, the Unova Saga |
| 8 | XY, the Kalos Saga |
| 9 | Sun & Moon, the Alola Saga |
| 10 | Pokémon Journeys, the Galar Saga |
| 11 | Pokémon: Aim to Be a Pokémon Master |
| 12 | Pokémon Horizons, the Paldea Saga |

Serebii also lists a set of specials called Pokémon Chronicles. The series are named after regions, and you can see those in [Pokémon regions in order](https://pokee.si/articles/pokemon-regions-in-order).

## Age and content

We have not rated any episodes ourselves, and we found no official age statement from The Pokémon Company on the pages we could open. What we can say is that ratings differ by country. Netflix's page for Horizons showed "PG" when we opened it, and Netflix's US listing and Rotten Tomatoes show TV-Y7. Look at the label on your own service, and watch the first episode with your child. For the wider picture of Pokémon for children, read the [parents' guide to Pokémon](https://pokee.si/articles/parents-guide-to-pokemon), and for phone games see [Is Pokémon GO safe for kids?](https://pokee.si/articles/is-pokemon-go-safe-for-kids).

## How to check what your family can watch

1. Open the official where-to-watch guide on pokemon.com and pick your country, if it asks.
2. Search for the series title inside the streaming app you already use. A title that is missing today may appear later, and one that is there now may leave.
3. Look at the age label next to the title, and compare it with the label on the profile your child will use.
4. Watch the first episode together, then decide.

## A few tips

1. Pick the profile with the right maturity setting on your streaming account before your child starts.
2. Start with Pokémon Horizons, the newest series, if you want to begin now.
3. If your child gets curious about one Pokémon, look it up together and listen to its name on the [Pokédex](https://pokee.si/pokedex).
4. A quiz such as [Who's That Pokémon?](https://pokee.si/games/whos-that) or the [Cry Quiz](https://pokee.si/games/cry-quiz) turns screen time into a game about what they watched.

## Questions people ask

### Where can I watch the Pokémon anime?

There is no single home. Pokémon Horizons and Pokémon Concierge are on Netflix, and The Pokémon Company keeps a where-to-watch page on pokemon.com. Availability differs by country and changes, so check that page for your own.

### Is the Pokémon TV app still available?

No. The Pokémon TV app and website closed on 28 March 2024, and new downloads stopped on 8 January 2024.

### Where should a new viewer start?

With Pokémon Horizons, the newest series on Serebii's list. Netflix describes it as following two young adventurers exploring new lands.

### Is the Pokémon anime suitable for young children?

Check the rating in your country, and watch an episode together first. Netflix shows Pokémon Horizons as TV-Y7 on US listings and as PG on the page we opened, so the label depends on where you live.

### Are Pokémon videos on YouTube official?

Some are. The pokemon.com where-to-watch guide links two official Pokémon YouTube channels, and Serebii lists short web series such as Pokémon: Hisuian Snow and Pokémon: Paldean Winds. Look for the channels the company links from pokemon.com.
