Cinccino is a [Normal](https://pokee.si/types/normal)-type Pokémon, the Scarf Pokémon, number 573 (#0573) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 5 and comes from the [Unova](https://pokee.si/guide/regions/unova) region. It is 0.5 m tall and weighs 7.5 kg.

Cinccino is the Scarf Pokémon, a chinchilla whose white coat is covered in a special oil that lets enemy attacks slide off. The Pokédex says the oil sells for a high price at market.

## How to pronounce Cinccino

Cinccino is pronounced **chin-CHEE-noh**. The capital letters show the stressed syllable.

## Lore

### Biology

Cinccino is a furry, grey, chinchilla-like Pokémon with large ears, big brown eyes and a very fluffy white tail. It is 0.5 m tall and weighs 7.5 kg. Two long fluffs on its head wrap round its back like a scarf. The Pokédex says the oil on its fur turns aside blows such as punches.

### Behaviour

Cinccino spreads its oil over its nest to protect it from dust, and the Sword Pokédex says it will not tolerate even a speck of dust there. The Ultra Moon entry says the oil is very smooth and an effective treatment for people with bad skin.

### Habitat

No Pokédex entry names a habitat, only a nest it coats with oil. In Scarlet and Violet it lives in the Canyon and Polar Biomes of the Indigo Disk's Terarium.

### Powers

Its Abilities are Cute Charm and Technician, with Skill Link hidden, and it already knows Tail Slap and Bullet Seed on evolving. Both hit two to five times, so Skill Link, which makes them always strike five times, suits it well. With 115 base Speed and 95 Attack it is the fastest Normal type introduced in Generation V.

### Name origin

Cinccino may combine 'chinchilla' with 'chino cloth', and -ino or -cino is a diminutive. The Japanese name is Chillaccino (チラチーノ).

### Design inspiration

Atsuko Nishida designed Cinccino with Minccino. Bulbapedia says it is probably based on a chinchilla, that its white hair resembles high-class women's hairstyles of the early 1600s, and that the fur around its neck recalls shawls, scarves and boas.

### Evolution notes

Cinccino comes from Minccino with a Shiny Stone.

### In the games

In Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra Cinccino can be found in Max Lair Dynamax Adventures, and in Scarlet and Violet it is in the Indigo Disk. It debuted in Black and White, found on Routes 5, 9 and 16 and in Cold Storage, and it is not available in Legends: Z-A.

### In the anime

In 'Beauties Battling for Pride and Prestige!', Moira's Cinccino, nicknamed Cinccinoette, lost to Ash's Snivy. In 'Crowning the Scalchop King!', Ash's Oshawott fell in love with a Cinccino.

### Fun facts

- Before Generation VIII, Tail Slap was Cinccino's signature move, though breeding could still pass it to other Pokémon.
- Because of an error, Cinccino could not learn Thief by TM in Black and White, though Minccino could; it was fixed in Black 2 and White 2.
- Bulbapedia notes that real chinchillas do not produce oil, unlike the Cinccino the Pokédex keeps describing as oily.
- In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, the Gift Shop Cinccino is friends with Rampardos of the Box Buster shop, but she never notices how fond of her he is.
