Corviknight is a [Flying](https://pokee.si/types/flying)/[Steel](https://pokee.si/types/steel)-type Pokémon, the Raven Pokémon, number 823 (#0823) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 8 and comes from the [Galar](https://pokee.si/guide/regions/galar) region. It is 2.2 m tall and weighs 75 kg.

Corviknight is the Raven Pokémon, a steel-plated bird that the Pokédex says reigns supreme in the skies of Galar, and that also doubles as the region's airborne taxi service.

## How to pronounce Corviknight

Corviknight is pronounced **KOR-vih-nite**. The capital letters show the stressed syllable.

## Lore

### Biology

Corviknight is a large black raven whose mantle, breast, belly and flanks are smooth steel plates like armour. A crown-like crest sits above its eyes and a beard-like ruff of feathers on its throat. It is 2.2 m tall and weighs 75 kg. The Pokédex says the black lustre of its steel body could terrify a foe, and that its steel wings are so tough that it keeps flying calmly even if it is struck in the air.

### Behaviour

By reputation Corviknight is the strongest bird in Galar, able to scare off any challenger, and its intelligence and flying skill make it a natural taxi driver. It has violent territorial clashes with Skarmory. The Scarlet Pokédex says it cannot work as a taxi in Paldea because its natural predators attack it in flight, and Bulbapedia names Tinkatuff and Tinkaton, which pelt it with rocks.

### Habitat

Canon gives no habitat for Corviknight. In Scarlet and Violet it is found in Area Zero and at a set spot in North Province Area Two, and in 5-star and 6-star Tera Raid Battles. In Legends: Z-A, wild Corviknight appear only in the Mega Dimension DLC, in Hyperspace Lumiose's 4-star Flying zones.

### Diet

Bulbapedia says it preys on Bunnelby.

### Powers

Pressure makes moves aimed at it cost extra PP, and the hidden Ability Mirror Armor reflects stat-lowering effects; Bulbapedia says only Corviknight can have it. It strikes with Steel Wing, Drill Peck, Brave Bird and Iron Head. Gigantamax Corviknight shows red Dynamax patches on its wings and launches eight 'blade birds' from them, whips up hurricane-force winds, and is the only Pokémon that can use G-Max Wind Rage. With 98 base HP and 105 Defense it is a durable flying wall.

### Name origin

Corviknight may combine 'corvid' and 'knight'. The Japanese name is Armorga (アーマーガア), perhaps from 'armour', gāgā (the sound of squawking) and a ('crow').

### Design inspiration

Bulbapedia suggests a raven, carrion crow or western jackdaw, all common in Britain, dressed as a medieval black knight. It may also nod to the ravens of the Tower of London, which tradition says protect the Crown and the Tower. These are fan readings.

### Evolution notes

Corviknight evolves from Corvisquire at level 38.

### In the games

Corviknight is Galar's taxi bird in Sword and Shield, its first games, and it appears as a Spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Pokémon Masters EX has a costume sync pair of Sonia and Corviknight in her Academy outfit.

### In the anime

Corviknight debuted in 'Legend? Go! Friends? Go!', when a Trainer's Corviknight took part in a Raid Battle that targeted a Lugia. In Horizons, Amethio, a general of the Explorers, is revealed to own one, in 'The Pendant That Starts It All (Part Two)', and mainly uses it to travel by air.

### Fun facts

- Gigantamax Corviknight ties with Gigantamax Orbeetle for the lowest height of any Gigantamax form, at roughly 14 m.
- Bulbapedia says Paldea's Flying Taxis use Squawkabilly instead of Corviknight.
- Its French name Corvaillus mixes Latin corvus ('raven') with vaillant ('valiant').
- In the Paldean Winds short 'Breathe Out', a Corviknight is pursued across Mesagoza by a student's Tinkaton.
