Mount Pokémon · Dragon/Normal-type

![Cyclizar official artwork](https://pokee.si/img/art/967.webp)

Cyclizar is a [Dragon](https://pokee.si/types/dragon)/[Normal](https://pokee.si/types/normal)-type Pokémon, the Mount Pokémon, number 967 (#0967) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 9 and comes from the [Paldea](https://pokee.si/guide/regions/paldea) region. It is 1.6 m tall and weighs 63 kg.

Cyclizar is a lizard that works as a motorcycle: the Pokédex says people have apparently ridden it since ancient times, and cites 10,000-year-old murals. With a rider it can sprint at over 115 km/h (70 mph).

## How to pronounce Cyclizar

Cyclizar is pronounced **SY-klih-zar**. The capital letters show the stressed syllable.

## Lore

### Biology

Cyclizar measures 1.6 m and weighs 63 kg. It is a green lizard with a black head, round orange cheeks, a seat-like covering at the base of its tail and a black throat sac that looks like a tyre. The Pokédex says the folds of its throat hold stored energy that lets it run for very long distances without stopping while it carries a rider.

### Behaviour

Bulbapedia calls Cyclizar mild-tempered, and the Pokédex says a rider's body heat warms its back and lifts its spirits. Jacq, a character in Scarlet and Violet, says Cyclizar has three forms: walking on four legs, standing on its hind legs to battle, and a ride form where it inflates its throat sac and curls up its tail so they look like wheels.

### Habitat

The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Scarlet and Violet it roams the East and West Provinces, including Asado Desert, and appears in 4-star and 6-star Tera Raid Battles.

### Powers

Shed Skin gives it a 33% chance of curing a status condition each turn, and its hidden Ability is Regenerator. It runs on Quick Attack, U-turn, Dragon Claw and Dragon Rush. With a base Speed of 121 it outruns most rivals.

### Name origin

Cyclizar may combine 'cycle' and 'lizard'. The Japanese name is Mototokage (モトトカゲ), which may join moto (Spanish, Italian and Portuguese for 'motorcycle') and tokage ('lizard').

### Design inspiration

Cyclizar seems to be based on lizards such as anoles and fan-throated lizards, with gecko-like foot pads and a chameleon-like tail. Its casque resembles a motorcycle windshield or helmet, and its cheeks look like turn signals. Bulbapedia also suggests it may be a 'missing link' between Koraidon and Miraidon, judging by its partly fused toes. These are fan readings.

### In the games

Players meet Cyclizar roaming the East and West Provinces of Scarlet and Violet, where it debuted and some are seen fitted with metal seats and headlights. In Legends: Z-A it appears in the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Lumiose, in the 4-star Normal-type and Dragon-type wild zones.

### In the anime

Cyclizar debuted in Pokémon Horizons in 'Welcome to Paldea!' under a Trainer. Three belong to Team Dragon Rampage in 'Crash! Team Dragon Rampage!'.

### Fun facts

- It shares its Mount Pokémon category with Skiddo and Gogoat.
- Bulbapedia says no other Dragon type belongs to the Field Egg Group.
- Its base stat total of 501 is shared with no other Pokémon, according to Bulbapedia.
- Both Koraidon's and Miraidon's Pokédex entries say they resemble Cyclizar, and Bulbapedia notes this makes Cyclizar the single Generation IX species with a Paradox counterpart.
