Dracovish is a [Water](https://pokee.si/types/water)/[Dragon](https://pokee.si/types/dragon)-type Pokémon, the Fossil Pokémon, number 882 (#0882) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 8 and comes from the [Galar](https://pokee.si/guide/regions/galar) region. It is 2.3 m tall and weighs 215 kg.

Dracovish is a fish's head fused to a drake's legs and tail, a fossil Pokémon the Pokédex credits as the top predator of its age. Its legs can exceed 60 km/h (40 mph), but the Pokédex says it cannot breathe unless it is underwater.

## How to pronounce Dracovish

Dracovish is pronounced **DRAY-koh-vish**. The capital letters show the stressed syllable.

## Lore

### Biology

Dracovish is 2.3 m tall and weighs 215 kg. The round head has a triangular plate on top, three sharp teeth, rectangular pupils and two fins under the jaw. The neck carries a red stripe with curved spikes, and the green striped legs end in feet with three red claws.

### Behaviour

The Pokédex says powerful legs and jaws made Dracovish the top predator of its age, until overhunting its prey drove it to extinction. In the anime Ash's Dracovish can awaken a hidden power that wraps the spikes on its chest in red aura, letting it bind or jab its targets.

### Habitat

The Pokédex names no habitat. Wild ones appear only in Max Raid Battles on Snowslide Slope in the Crown Tundra.

### Powers

Dracovish has Water Absorb or Strong Jaw, with Sand Rush hidden. Its signature move is Fishious Rend, which doubles to 170 power if Dracovish strikes first or the target has just switched in, and Strong Jaw adds a further 50%; only Dracovish and Arctovish can learn it. It also uses Dragon Rush and Crunch. With 90 Attack and 100 Defense, it relies on Fishious Rend for its punch.

### Name origin

Dracovish may combine dracō, Latin for 'dragon', with 'fish', and possibly 'vicious' or the Ordovician, a geological period. The Japanese name is Uonoragon (ウオノラゴン), which may combine uo ('fish'), the particle no and 'dragon'.

### Design inspiration

Its lower half looks like a stegosaur, while the top half looks like Dunkleosteus, an armoured prehistoric fish. Bulbapedia suggests that mounting the head at the tip of the tail may reference the first reconstruction of Elasmosaurus. These are fan readings.

### Evolution notes

Dracovish does not evolve. It is revived by combining a Fossilized Fish with a Fossilized Drake.

### In the games

Dracovish is revived by Cara Liss on Route 6 in Sword and Shield, the games that introduced it, from a Fossilized Fish and a Fossilized Drake. Scarlet, Violet and Legends: Z-A do not offer it.

### In the anime

Ash's Dracovish debuted in 'A Pinch of This, a Pinch of That!', restored from fossils in the Wild Area, and chased Ash around until he realised it only wanted a swim. It later fought Leon's Dragapult in 'Toying With Your Motions!'.

### Fun facts

- Bulbapedia lists it as the only Dragon type whose body is just a head and legs.
- In 'Thrash of the Titans!', Ash's Dracovish clamped down on Iris's Dragonite with Fishious Rend.
- In Pokémon Adventures, Marvin catches a Dracovish and nicknames it Drakey, and it later turns out to have been Cara Liss's Pokémon all along.
