Dragapult is a [Dragon](https://pokee.si/types/dragon)/[Ghost](https://pokee.si/types/ghost)-type Pokémon, the Stealth Pokémon, number 887 (#0887) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 8 and comes from the [Galar](https://pokee.si/guide/regions/galar) region. It is 3 m tall and weighs 50 kg.

Dragapult is the Stealth Pokémon, a Dragon and Ghost type that carries two Dreepy in the launch ports on its head and fires them at its opponents like supersonic missiles. The Pokédex says the Dreepy cannot wait to be launched.

## How to pronounce Dragapult

## Lore

### Biology

Dragapult is a floating, teal, salamander-like Pokémon, listed at 3 m and 50 kg. Its large, flat, triangular head is charcoal grey with pinkish-red wing tips and four missile-barrel ports at the back, where the Dreepy rest. It has thin yellow eyes with red lids, a pale yellow underside marked with three red arrow-like chevrons, and a long tail. The Pokédex says it can turn itself and its Dreepy invisible by emptying its mind and concentrating.

### Behaviour

Dragapult shelters its Dreepy in the holes of its horns between fights and fires them off once battle begins; Bulbapedia says it launches them by inflating its cheeks with air. The Pokédex says Dreepy are drawn to the fastest Dragapult in a group and crowd round it, hoping to fly at sonic speed.

### Habitat

The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Scarlet and Violet it is not found in the wild: Drakloak evolves into it, and it also appears in 5 and 6 star Tera Raid Battles.

### Powers

Dragapult has Clear Body or Infiltrator, with Cursed Body hidden. Its signature move is Dragon Darts, in which it attacks twice using Dreepy, and only Dragapult can learn it. It also uses Shadow Ball, Draco Meteor, Phantom Force and U-turn. With base Speed 142 and Attack 120 it is a fast, aggressive attacker, and it has a good Special Attack of 100 to match.

### Name origin

Dragapult combines 'dragon' and 'catapult', and Bulbapedia notes it may also play on 'poltergeist' and on sepultura, Spanish and Portuguese for 'grave'. The Japanese name is Dorapult (ドラパルト), which seems to be formed the same way.

### Design inspiration

Its head resembles a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, which fits its Stealth category, the ports that launch Dreepy may reference crossbows, and the arrow-like marks on its belly may nod to aircraft catapults, which its name seems to echo. Bulbapedia adds that its upright stance is closer to a crocodile's, and crocodilians are known to carry young on their heads. These are fan readings.

### Evolution notes

Dragapult evolves from Drakloak at level 60 and is the final stage of Dreepy's line.

### In the games

Wild Dragapult appear in Max Raid Battles in Sword and Shield, the games that introduced it, and it is a playable ranged attacker in Pokémon UNITE. It is not available in Legends: Z-A.

### In the anime

Leon's Dragapult debuted in 'Sword and Shield: The Darkest Day!', where it teamed up with Ash's Pikachu and Gengar to stop a Gigantamax Coalossal on the rampage. In the Masters Eight Tournament finals of 'Toying With Your Motions!' it faced Ash, knocking out Mega Lucario before Dragonite took it down.

### Fun facts

- In the 2020 Pokémon of the Year poll, Dragapult topped the Generation VIII entries with 57,973 votes and finished eleventh overall.
- Bandai's Pokémon Scale World figures show that Dragapult's listed height is really its length from muzzle to tail tip.
- Dynamaxing makes Dragapult vanish for a moment before it reaches full size, an animation quirk Bulbapedia says is unique to it.
