EleFish Pokémon · Electric-type

![Eelektross official artwork](https://pokee.si/img/art/604.webp)

Eelektross is a [Electric](https://pokee.si/types/electric)-type Pokémon, the EleFish Pokémon, number 604 (#0604) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 5 and comes from the [Unova](https://pokee.si/guide/regions/unova) region. It is 2.1 m tall and weighs 80.5 kg.

Eelektross is the EleFish Pokémon that hauls itself out of the sea on its arms to ambush prey on land, then drags it back into the water. Its Mega Evolution grows decoy Eelektrik out of mucus on its arms and generates ten times the electricity.

## How to pronounce Eelektross

Eelektross is pronounced **ee-LEK-tros**. The capital letters show the stressed syllable.

## Lore

### Biology

Eelektross is 2.1 m long and weighs 80.5 kg. It is a lamprey-like eel with a red, jawless sucker mouth and four fangs and a dark blue body with a beige underside. Its long arms end in three claws around a target-like pattern, and yellow spots on its torso and arms are electricity-generating organs.

### Behaviour

The Pokédex says Eelektross crawls out of the ocean on its arms to attack prey on shore, latching on with its sucker mouth, shocking it through its fangs and dragging it into the water.

### Habitat

Bulbapedia says Eelektross lives in the ocean and comes onto land only to hunt.

### Powers

Its only Ability is Levitate. It hits with Wild Charge, Crunch and Discharge, and base Attack 115 and Special Attack 105 make it a strong mixed attacker. Mega Eelektross, introduced in Legends: Z-A, is a pure Electric type with the signature Ability Eelevate. Its mucus-coated arms form false Eelektrik, and it makes ten times the electricity and discharges it through them, enough to stun a Wailord. It also swims almost twice as fast and hovers above the ground.

### Name origin

Eelektross may combine 'eel', 'electric' and 'boss' or the German groß ('large'). The Japanese name is Shibirudon (シビルドン), which may combine shibire ('numbness') or shibire-unagi ('electric eel') with the Spanish don ('lord') or the -don ending of prehistoric animal names.

### Design inspiration

Yusuke Ohmura designed the line. Eelektross may draw on the lamprey, the leech and the ribbon eel, and the way it floats with its mouth open may recall a koinobori carp windsock. Mega Eelektross may borrow from the hagfish, which produces sticky white mucus when threatened.

### Evolution notes

Eelektross evolves from Eelektrik when a Thunder Stone is used on it, the only step in the line that is not a level-up.

### In the games

In Scarlet and Violet, Eelektross is found in North Province Area One, in the Terarium's Chargestone Cavern and in 5-star Tera Raids. In Legends: Z-A it appears as an Alpha in Centrico Plaza's Wild Zone 20, and the Mega Dimension DLC adds it to Hyperspace Lumiose. It first appeared in Black and White as the evolution of Eelektrik.

### In the anime

Emmet's Eelektross debuted in 'Battle for the Underground!', supercharging a maintenance car, and it later fought alongside Ingo's Chandelure in a Tag Battle against Ash and Cilan in 'Lost at the Stamp Rally!'.

### Fun facts

- Bulbapedia says that, with Levitate counted, Eelektross and its pre-evolutions are the only Pokémon with no type weakness in ordinary battles, and Mega Eelektross is the only Mega Evolution that can say the same.
- The two false Eelektrik on Mega Eelektross's arms have names: 'Eeleftrik' on the left arm and 'Eerightrik' on the right.
- When Mega Evolution wears off, the white mucus melts away, though it can be kept frozen; Bulbapedia says some people use it in beauty routines or for strength training, with unknown results.
