![Gogoat official artwork](https://pokee.si/img/art/673.webp)

Gogoat is a [Grass](https://pokee.si/types/grass)-type Pokémon, the Mount Pokémon, number 673 (#0673) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 6 and comes from the [Kalos](https://pokee.si/guide/regions/kalos) region. It is 1.7 m tall and weighs 91 kg.

Gogoat is the Mount Pokémon, a big leafy goat that the Pokédex says has helped people with their work for 5,000 years. It reads its rider's mood from the way they hold its horns, so the two run as one.

## How to pronounce Gogoat

Gogoat is pronounced **GOH-goht**. The capital letters show the stressed syllable.

## Lore

### Biology

Gogoat is 1.7 m tall and 91 kg. Its face is white with a brown blaze and red eyes ringed in black, while the back of its head and its shaggy coat are dark brown. Two long black horns curve back over its body, and a thick green leafy mane runs from its neck down its back to a short, bushy tail. Its hooves are cloven and brownish orange.

### Behaviour

Wild Gogoat live in herds in mountainous places, and the Pokédex says the herd's leader is decided by a contest of clashing horns. It senses how whoever holds its horns is feeling, which the Z-A Pokédex says lets rider and Gogoat move like a single creature.

### Habitat

Gogoat lives in mountain herds. In Scarlet and Violet it is found in North Province, the Dalizapa Passage, Casseroya Lake and parts of the South and West Provinces, and in Legends: Z-A in Wild Zone 12 and in Hyperspace Lumiose in the Mega Dimension DLC.

### Powers

Its Abilities are Sap Sipper and the hidden Grass Pelt. It strikes with Horn Leech, Leaf Blade, Earthquake and Double-Edge, and learns Milk Drink at level 58 to heal itself. With base HP of 123, the highest of any Grass type, and Attack of 100, it is a sturdy physical attacker.

### Name origin

Gogoat may be derived from 'go', the Japanese gōgō ('rumbling') and 'goat'. The Japanese name is Gogoat (ゴーゴート), the same word.

### Design inspiration

Gogoat is based on a goat, perhaps a bharal, dwarf bharal or ibex given its horns. Bulbapedia also reads it as based on a motorcycle, since it can be ridden and its horns resemble handlebars. The grass may nod to Pan or Faunus, half-goat nature gods. These are fan readings.

### Evolution notes

Gogoat evolves from Skiddo at level 32.

### In the games

In Legends: Z-A, Bulbapedia says Lumiose City once ran a taxi service called the Gogoat Shuttle, which stopped before the story begins because Gogoat are frightened by the wild Pokémon that fill the Wild Zones. Gogoat first appeared in X and Y, where it is found in the Grass-type Friend Safari.

### In the anime

Alexa's Gogoat debuted in 'The Journalist from Another Region!'. In 'Go, Go Gogoat!' it turns out to be her first Pokémon, caught after it helped her climb a cliff.

### Fun facts

- Bulbapedia says Gogoat is on the utility hole covers of Lumiose City's Vert District, where it represents camaraderie.
- In Scarlet and Violet it learns Aerial Ace the moment it evolves and Earthquake from the start of its stage, odd moves for a Grass-type goat.
- In the POKÉTOON short 'My Gogoat Journey', a Gogoat takes a boy named Julian on a trip through Lumiose City.
