It was introduced in Generation 4 and comes from the [Sinnoh](https://pokee.si/guide/regions/sinnoh) region. It is 0.6 m tall and weighs 13 kg. Mime Jr. is a gifted but clumsy mimic that copies everything it sees. In Galar, it studies Mr. Rime's tap steps like an apprentice, and when its tricks startle someone it is so pleased that it forgets to keep its act up. ## How to pronounce Mime Jr. Mime Jr. is pronounced **MIME JOON-yer**. It has a red clown nose, a red bump on its stomach and slender arms with small hands. ### Behaviour The Legends: Arceus Pokédex says it imitates people the way a small child does, then studies their reactions with sparkling eyes. The Platinum Pokédex says it copies the expressions and motions it sees to understand how others feel. ### Habitat The Pokédex says it likes places where people gather, and turns up in bustling marketplaces. In Legends: Z-A it comes by trade or in the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Lumiose. ### Powers Soundproof blocks sound-based moves, Filter reduces damage from super-effective moves, and Technician is hidden. It learns Copycat, Mimic, Role Play, Encore and Baton Pass, and its best stat is Special Defense at 90. Its base HP of 20 is the lowest of any Psychic and Fairy type, Bulbapedia notes. ### Name origin Mime Jr. is 'mime' plus 'Jr.', short for 'Junior'. The Japanese name is Manene (マネネ), which may combine 真似 mane ('mimicry') with the particle ne, or nene, Spanish for 'baby'. ### Design inspiration Mime Jr. seems to combine a toddler with a mime artist. Bulbapedia says its hat could be a knitted cap with flaps or a jester's cap, and that its pointed hat and Fairy type may nod to the gnomes and dwarves of fairy tales. It also looks like an ice cream cone. These are fan readings. ### Evolution notes Mime Jr. evolves when it levels up knowing Mimic, into Mr. Mime, or into Galarian Mr. Mime if it does so in Galar. ### In the games One of the toughest optional missions in Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team can reward you with a statue of Mime Jr. The species was introduced in Diamond and Pearl as the baby form of Mr. Mime, and it roams the Obsidian Fieldlands and Coronet Highlands in Legends: Arceus. Bulbapedia lists it as unobtainable in Scarlet and Violet. ### In the anime In 'Sweet Baby James', the species' animated series debut, James is given a Mime Jr. by Nanny and Pop-Pop.
