Rock Salt Pokémon · Rock-type

![Naclstack official artwork](https://pokee.si/img/art/933.webp)

Naclstack is a [Rock](https://pokee.si/types/rock)-type Pokémon, the Rock Salt Pokémon, number 933 (#0933) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 9 and comes from the [Paldea](https://pokee.si/guide/regions/paldea) region. It is 0.6 m tall and weighs 105 kg.

Naclstack is the Rock Salt Pokémon that sprays salt over its prey to dry-cure it, then forgets all about the meal. It is so absent-minded that it forgets its Trainer's orders too.

## How to pronounce Naclstack

Naclstack is pronounced **NAK-ul-stak**. The capital letters show the stressed syllable.

## Lore

### Biology

Naclstack is a four-legged Pokémon of rock salt, 0.6 m (2'00") tall and 105 kg (231.5 lbs). Its cube-shaped head is white and cracked, with right-angled orange eyes that can glow, and its brown, salt-flecked body floats in place above blocky legs that are not attached to it. The Pokédex says it compresses rock salt into hardened pellets and fires them hard enough to perforate an iron sheet.

### Behaviour

Naclstack dry-cures its prey with salt, and the Pokédex says the curing steals the water from the prey's body. It then tends to forget about the meal it prepared, and it is even prone to losing track of what its Trainer has told it to do.

### Habitat

The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Scarlet and Violet it is found in places such as Alfornada Cavern, Casseroya Lake, Glaseado Mountain and Paldea's North Province.

### Powers

It learns Salt Cure the moment it evolves, and Bulbapedia says only Naclstack and Garganacl are known to learn it. Salt Cure damages the target every turn, and Water and Steel types are more strongly affected. Its Abilities are Purifying Salt and Sturdy, with Clear Body hidden. It also has Stealth Rock, Earthquake and Stone Edge. A base Defense of 100 and Speed of 35 make it a slow, hard-to-dent wall.

### Name origin

Naclstack may combine NaCl and stack, perhaps a nod to dry stone walling, which builds without mortar. The Japanese name is Jiodumu (ジオヅム), which may combine shio (salt), geo- or geode, and tsumu (to stack).

### Design inspiration

Bulbapedia, citing the line's designer, says Naclstack takes its look from halite crystals and bedrock-forming sedimentary rock, shaped like a four-legged animal. It also suggests ancient Iberian sculptures such as the Bicha of Balazote, and says its front body looks inspired by voxel art. The sculptures and voxels are fan readings.

### Evolution notes

Nacli evolves into Naclstack at level 24, and Naclstack evolves into Garganacl at level 38.

### In the games

Naclstack is a 3-star Tera Raid Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet, where it debuted. In Legends: Z-A it is wild only in the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Lumiose, in 3-star and 4-star Rock-type zones and in 5-star hyperspace zones reached by a special scan.

### In the anime

Laramou's Naclstack debuted in Pokémon Horizons episode HZ149.

### Fun facts

- Its Japanese name is the only one to contain the rare kana ヅ (du); Charjabug's Dendimushi is likewise the only name with ヂ (di).
- A duplicated entry in Scarlet and Violet's spawner data gives it double its programmed spawn weight, so it turns up more often than intended.
- Bulbapedia says the salt it drops from its footprints is gathered by people and used to season sandwiches.
