Mouse Pokémon · Electric-type

![Pawmi official artwork](https://pokee.si/img/art/921.webp)

Pawmi is a [Electric](https://pokee.si/types/electric)-type Pokémon, the Mouse Pokémon, number 921 (#0921) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 9 and comes from the [Paldea](https://pokee.si/guide/regions/paldea) region. It is 0.3 m tall and weighs 2.5 kg.

Pawmi is the Mouse Pokémon, a small orange Electric type whose cheek sacs have not fully developed, so it has to rub them furiously with the pads of its paws to make a spark. It is the first stage of a line whose last evolution is earned by walking with it.

## How to pronounce Pawmi

Pawmi is pronounced **PAW-mee**. The capital letters show the stressed syllable.

## Lore

### Biology

Pawmi is 0.3 m tall and weighs 2.5 kg, an orange rodent with cream paws, snout and tail, green inner ears, beady brown eyes and a tuft on its head. Its forepaws are oversized, and the yellow pads on them are organs that discharge electricity, turning teal-blue as they do. Bulbapedia says its thick fur insulates it against the cold and lets it store charge.

### Behaviour

When it feels threatened, Pawmi rubs its cheeks to build up a charge and delivers it to a foe with a touch of its forepaws. Pokémon Sleep shows it sometimes discharging in its sleep, which Bulbapedia says is theorised to be practice at generating electricity.

### Habitat

The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Scarlet and Violet it is found mainly in Paldea's South Province, with fixed encounters in the South and West Provinces, and in 1-star Tera Raid Battles.

### Powers

Its Abilities are Static and Natural Cure, with Iron Fist hidden. It learns Thunder Shock early, then Nuzzle at level 12, Spark at 23 and Wild Charge at 44. Base Speed 60 is its best stat, and everything else is low until it evolves.

### Name origin

Pawmi may combine 'paw', 'palm' and 'mini', or nezumi, the Japanese word for 'mouse'. The Japanese name is Pamo (パモ), possibly from pachipachi (the sound of electric crackling), 'palm', 'marmot', 'dynamo' and 'mho', a unit of electrical conductance.

### Design inspiration

Atsuko Nishida designed Pawmi and its evolutions. Pawmi looks like a rodent, especially the alpine marmot, and Bulbapedia also suggests the chinchilla or the closely related viscacha. Its electric paw pads may be inspired by defibrillators. These are fan readings.

### Evolution notes

Pawmi evolves into Pawmo at level 18.

### In the games

Pawmi starts its line in Scarlet and Violet, the games that introduced it, and has a Pokédex entry in Pokémon Pokopia. A Pokémon Center Birthday Pawmi was distributed from 1 November 2023 to 31 January 2025. It is not available in Legends: Z-A.

### In the anime

A wild Pawmi debuted in the first episode of Pokémon Horizons, 'The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One)', and one belongs to the Rising Volt Tacklers crew aboard the Brave Olivine from Part Two. In the music video for YOASOBI's song Biri-Biri, Nemona's Pawmi evolves into a Pawmo.

### Fun facts

- Bulbapedia notes that Pawmi and Pawmo are the only Mouse Pokémon from after Generation I, and theirs is the only Mouse line with no Alolan form.
- Its Japanese name, Pamo, is almost the English name of its own evolution, Pawmo.
- Its two-kana Japanese name ties with Cleffa and Greavard for the shortest of any Pokémon, according to Bulbapedia.
