# Vikavolt

Vikavolt is a [Bug](https://pokee.si/types/bug)/[Electric](https://pokee.si/types/electric)-type Pokémon, the Stag Beetle Pokémon, number 738 (#0738) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 7 and comes from the [Alola](https://pokee.si/guide/regions/alola) region. It is 1.5 m tall and weighs 45 kg.

Vikavolt, the Stag Beetle Pokémon, is a Bug and Electric type that fires beams of electricity from its huge jaws while flying acrobatically through forests. The Pokédex says it can carry a Charjabug as a spare battery to fire faster.

## Lore

### Biology

Vikavolt is 1.5 m tall and weighs 45 kg. It has a black body ringed in yellow, a small orange face under a blue helmet-like carapace, and long, straight blue and yellow jaws. Clear wings sit under blue wing cases. An organ in its abdomen makes the electricity, which it gathers in its jaws and fires as concentrated beams.

### Behaviour

Vikavolt is an agile flyer that weaves between trees and flusters opponents with acrobatic moves before it fires, and the Pokédex says its beams are good at shooting down bird Pokémon. Bulbapedia says it drops a carried Charjabug during fierce air battles to stay light, and that it has a rivalry with Pinsir and Heracross.

### Habitat

It flies through forests. In Alola you mostly meet it by evolving a Charjabug, and in Scarlet and Violet it lives in Kitakami through The Teal Mask. It is not available in Legends: Z-A.

### Diet

In the anime episode 'A High-Speed Awakening!' it drinks tree sap, according to Bulbapedia.

### Powers

Its Ability is Levitate, which makes it immune to Ground moves. Its attacks are electric: Thunderbolt, Discharge and Zap Cannon, with Bug Buzz and Fly as backup. With 145 base Special Attack, the highest of any Bug type, but only 43 Speed, it hits hard and slowly.

### Name origin

Vikavolt may come from 'Vic Viper', the twin-pronged starfighter in the shooting game Gradius, plus 'volt'. The Japanese name is Kuwagannon (クワガノン), which may combine kuwagatamushi ('stag beetle') and 'cannon'.

### Design inspiration

Vikavolt may combine a stag beetle with a railgun. Its straight jaws resemble those of the beetle Lucanus hayashii and some Cyclommatus species, and they may also echo crocodile clips. These are fan readings.

### Evolution notes

Vikavolt is the final form of the Grubbin line and evolves from Charjabug when exposed to a Thunder Stone.

### In the games

Vikavolt is the Totem Pokémon of Sophocles's trial at Hokulani Observatory in Sun and Moon, its debut games, and the reward is the Electrium Z. In Scarlet and Violet it can be found through The Teal Mask.

### In the anime

Sophocles's Charjabug evolved into a Vikavolt in 'Evolving Research!'. In 'A High-Speed Awakening!' Trainers enter a Vikavolt race, with a Buginium Z as the prize, and Horacio's Shiny Vikavolt loses.

- Totem Vikavolt is 2.6 m tall and weighs 147.5 kg, against 1.5 m and 45 kg for a normal one.
