## Best types to use against Grass/Dragon

To beat a Grass/Dragon Pokémon, use Ice moves: it deals 4× damage. Poison, Flying, Bug, Dragon and Fairy moves also hit for 2×. Do not waste turns on Water (¼×), Electric (¼×), Grass (¼×) and Ground (½×).

Grass/Dragon and Dragon/Grass are the same typing: in battle the order of a Pokémon's two types makes no difference, so a Dragon/Grass search lands on this page too.

Going the other way, Grass and Dragon moves between them hit Water, Ground, Rock and Dragon super effectively, but Steel takes reduced or no damage from both.

9 Pokémon have the Grass/Dragon typing: 5 species and 4 alternate forms, first appearing in Generation 1 and spanning 4 generations to Generation 9.

The highest base stat total is Mega Sceptile with 630; the average across the group is 487.

## Abilities that change Grass/Dragon matchups

Some Grass/Dragon Pokémon have an ability that overrides the type chart. These are the ones that do:

- [Lightning Rod](https://pokee.si/abilities/lightning-rod) draws in Electric moves and absorbs them (Electric ¼× to 0×). Held by [Mega Sceptile](https://pokee.si/pokemon/sceptile?form=sceptile-mega).
- [Thick Fat](https://pokee.si/abilities/thick-fat) halves damage from Fire and Ice moves (Fire 1× to ½×; Ice 4× to 2×). Held by [Appletun](https://pokee.si/pokemon/appletun) (hidden ability), [Gigantamax Appletun](https://pokee.si/pokemon/appletun?form=appletun-gmax) (hidden ability).
