Mega Evolution
Mega Evolution is a temporary transformation for Pokémon that cannot evolve any further. It first appeared in Pokémon X and Y in 2013 and is a mechanic of Generations 6 and 7. It was missing from Sword and Shield and Scarlet and Violet, then returned in Pokémon Legends: Z-A with a new real-time system.
You need two stones: the Trainer’s Key Stone (in a Mega Ring or Bracelet) and the Pokémon’s own Mega Stone, a held item such as Charizardite X. Rayquaza is the exception: it only needs to know Dragon Ascent.
In Generations 6 and 7 each Trainer could Mega Evolve only one Pokémon per battle.
