Cherrim

Cherrim is a Grass-type Pokémon, the Blossom Pokémon, number 421 (#0421) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 4 and comes from the Sinnoh region. It is 0.5 m tall and weighs 9.3 kg.
Cherrim is the Blossom Pokémon, a Grass type whose mood follows the weather: a quiet bud under cloud, a cheerful flower in strong sunlight. The Pokédex says its folded petals are tough enough that pecking birds do not bother it.

Lore
Biology
Cherrim is 0.5 m tall and weighs 9.3 kg. In Overcast Form it is a deep-pink body wrapped in two purple petals. In Sunshine Form, pink petals like cherry blossoms ring its head and chest. The Legends: Arceus entry says the scent from its folded petals draws a rich array of Pokémon, often Bug types according to Bulbapedia.
Behaviour
As a bud, Cherrim barely moves and waits placidly. Once strong sunlight arrives it absorbs the rays with its whole body and becomes active, as if to make up for the long wait, and it folds back into a bud when the light goes.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat. Bulbapedia's location lists show wild Cherrim in Legends: Arceus, from shaking trees, and in Sword and Shield Max Raid Battles.
Powers
Its only Ability, Flower Gift, boosts the Attack and Special Defense of friendly Pokémon, Cherrim included, in strong sunlight, and no other Pokémon can have it. In battles and Contests, strong sunlight switches Cherrim from Overcast to Sunshine Form; outside them it stays Overcast. It learns Solar Beam, Petal Blizzard and Petal Dance, and its base Special Attack is 87.
Name origin
Cherrim may combine 'cherry' with 'cherubim' or 'blossom'. The Japanese name is Cherrim (チェリム), the same as the English name.
Design inspiration
Its reaction to light appears to be based on photonastic flowers, which open and close with the light, and its Sunshine Form looks like cherry blossoms. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Cherrim evolves from Cherubi at level 25 and has no further evolution.
In the games
Eterna City Gym Leader Gardenia uses a Cherrim at level 20 in Platinum, and the species was introduced in Diamond and Pearl. It cannot be obtained in Scarlet and Violet or Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
Lila, a famous Pokémon Stylist, uses a Cherrim in a Contest in 'Battling the Generation Gap!', its anime debut. In 'Promoting Healthy Tangrowth!', a Cherrim helps try to nurse a damaged tree about 1,000 years old back to health.
