Lore
Biology
Exeggutor is a tall, bipedal palm tree of a Pokémon, 2 m tall and 120 kg, with a light brown body ringed in thin black stripes, thick legs and thin green leaves at the top. Its three round, pale yellow heads look like coconuts, each with a different expression. The Pokédex calls it 'The Walking Jungle' and says its heads grow larger the more strong sunlight it gets.
Behaviour
Each head thinks its own thoughts and seems uninterested in the others, which makes Exeggutor very noisy, yet they are friendly and never squabble. The heads use telepathy to reach a joint decision, and if they want to go different ways the body cannot move at all. Cloudy days make it sluggish.
Habitat
Forests and jungles; the Pokédex says it originally came from the tropics. In Scarlet and Violet it is found in The Indigo Disk's Savanna Biome (Kantonian) and Coastal Biome (Alolan), and in 5-star and 6-star Tera Raid Battles. It is not available in Legends: Z-A.
Powers
It has Chlorophyll and the hidden Harvest. The Pokédex says its three heads triple its psychic power, and its base Special Attack is 125; Psychic, Leaf Storm, Giga Drain and Solar Beam are its main weapons. Alolan Exeggutor is a Grass and Dragon type with Frisk, a long neck it swings like a whip, and a fourth head on its tail that acts on its own. Its height weakened its psychic power and awakened draconic ones.
Name origin
Exeggutor may combine 'egg' and 'executor'. Its Japanese name is Nassy (ナッシー), which may blend kokonattsu ('coconuts') and yashi ('palm tree').
Design inspiration
Ken Sugimori designed both forms. Exeggutor looks like a coconut or desert palm, and perhaps Jinmenju, a Japanese tree that grows smiling human heads. Alolan Exeggutor's Dragon type may reference dragon trees of the genus Dracaena or Hawaii's shapeshifting Mo'o. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Exeggcute becomes Exeggutor with a Leaf Stone, or Alolan Exeggutor in Alola. Bulbapedia calls it a rare case of devolution: the Pokédex says a head that grows too big drops off and turns into an Exeggcute.
In the games
Alolan Exeggutor stars on Exeggutor Island in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, where three erratic ones are being pestered by Pinsir; once you deal with the Pinsir, one lets you climb its neck, and four later gather to watch your Grand Trial against Hapu.
In the anime
Mandi's Exeggutor is Ash's first opponent at the Indigo Plateau Conference, in 'Round One - Begin!'. A group of Alolan Exeggutor live on Treasure Island, first seen in 'Partner Promises!', and in 'That New Old Gang of Mine!' Goh evolves an Exeggcute and catches an Alolan Exeggutor.
