Seaking

Seaking is a Water-type Pokémon, the Goldfish Pokémon, number 119 (#0119) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 1 and comes from the Kanto region. It is 1.3 m tall and weighs 39 kg.
Seaking is a goldfish that drills holes in riverbed boulders with its horn to make nests that the current cannot wash away. In autumn the males dance on the river floor, and the females gather around the one who dances most gracefully.

Lore
Biology
Seaking is orange and white, 1.3 m long and 39 kg. It has a cream horn on its forehead, prominent pink lips and two small fangs, with black markings including two thick lines under each eye. Its billowing pectoral fins and paired tail fins shaped like butterfly wings are white with black speckles, while its dorsal fin stays rigid and white. In autumn its body turns plump and takes on beautiful colours, and the Sun Pokédex says it flushes deep red.
Behaviour
The Pokédex says Seaking guards its eggs fiercely: the male and female take turns patrolling the nest, and the watch lasts over a month. The Moon Pokédex also says Trainers who love Seaking split into horn fans and fin fans who do not get along.
Habitat
The Pokédex places Seaking in rivers and streams, swimming powerfully upstream in the autumn spawning season. Bulbapedia lists it as unobtainable in Scarlet and Violet.
Powers
Swift Swim doubles its Speed in rain, Water Veil prevents burns, and Lightning Rod is hidden. It learns Waterfall at level 37, Megahorn at 51 and Horn Drill at 58, and its horn is described as spinning like a drill. Its best base stat is Attack at 92, backed by 80 HP and 80 Special Defense.
Name origin
Seaking may combine 'sea' and 'king', with a possible play on 'seeking'. The Japanese name is Azumao (アズマオウ), which may come from 東錦 azuma nishiki, a goldfish breed, and 王 ō, 'king'.
Design inspiration
Seaking seems based on the oranda goldfish, specifically the azuma nishiki variety, and may also draw on the sanke koi. Its autumn colour change and climbing of waterfalls recalls the sockeye salmon, and males that build stone nests resemble the river chub. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Seaking evolves from Goldeen at level 33 and does not evolve further.
In the games
Seaking is one of the original Generation I Pokémon, and Bulbapedia notes no Trainer or story role for it in the core series. Bulbapedia lists it as unobtainable in Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
The Sensational Sisters' Seaking debuted in 'The Misty Mermaid', which was the species' debut. In 'The Great Eight Fate!', Juan's Seaking turned Pikachu's Electric attacks back on it with Horn Drill.
