Smoochum

Smoochum is a Ice/Psychic-type Pokémon, the Kiss Pokémon, number 238 (#0238) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 2 and comes from the Johto region. It is 0.4 m tall and weighs 6 kg.
Smoochum is the Kiss Pokémon, a baby Ice and Psychic type that decides what it likes by touching things with its lips. The Pokédex says it bathes the moment its face gets even slightly dirty, though it hardly cares about a dirty body.

Lore
Biology
Smoochum is a small humanoid, 0.4 m tall and 6 kg, with a large head, shoulder-length blonde hair with big bangs, light purple skin, blue-green eyes and large pink lips. It is female-only. The Pokédex says it rocks its head slowly back and forth as if trying to kiss someone.
Behaviour
Smoochum is very curious. Its lips are its most sensitive part, kept moist with a daily coat of tree sap, and it uses them first to examine anything new. It runs about but falls often, and the Pokédex says it peeks at its reflection to check that its face is still clean.
Habitat
The Pokédex habitat is urban, and Bulbapedia adds cold caverns. Smoochum is not obtainable in Scarlet and Violet or Legends: Z-A.
Powers
Its Abilities are Oblivious and Forewarn, with Hydration hidden. It learns Powder Snow, Sweet Kiss, Confusion and Ice Punch, and later Psychic and Blizzard. Its Special Attack of 85 is its best base stat, which makes it a ranged attacker that is fragile in a fight.
Name origin
Smoochum may come from 'smooch' (a kiss) and perhaps 'chum', or be a pun on 'smooch 'em'. The Japanese name is Muchul (ムチュール), possibly from muchū ('daze') and chu, a kiss sound.
Design inspiration
As Jynx's baby form, Smoochum may be based on gyaru, a Japanese fashion subculture, while still looking like an ordinary human child; Bulbapedia notes that gyaru mothers dress their children in the same style. Its habit of testing things with its lips matches how babies explore with their mouths. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Smoochum evolves into Jynx at level 30.
In the games
Smoochum is a baby Pokémon that can only be had by breeding a Jynx in Gold and Silver, where it debuted. In Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra it lives around Slippery Slope and Frostpoint Field.
In the anime
Smoochum debuted in the short 'Pikachu & Pichu' as a friend of the Pichu Brothers. Its first series appearance is 'The Screen Actor's Guilt', as the secret pet Smoochy of action star Brad Van Darn, whose agent feared his tough image would be ruined if it came out.
