Sample questions

  1. Which Ability summons harsh sunlight the moment its Pokémon enters battle? Choices: Snow Cloak, Sand Rush, Slush Rush, Drought. Answer: Drought. Drought: “Summons strong sunlight for five turns upon entering battle (eight with a Heat Rock).” Slush Rush (during snow (or hail in earlier games), this Pokémon has double Speed), Snow Cloak (increases evasion to 1.25× during snow or hail. Protects against hail damage) and Sand Rush (doubles Speed during a sandstorm. Protects against sandstorm damage) only react to weather that is already there.
  2. Which base stat goes up the most when Absol becomes Mega Absol Z? Choices: HP, Attack, Defense, Speed. Answer: Speed. Mega Absol Z’s Speed goes from 75 to 151 (+76). The next biggest gain is +24. Its base stat total goes from 465 to 565. A big Speed gain lets a Mega move before more of its opponents. A Mega Evolution keeps its HP, and for almost all of them its base stat total is exactly 100 higher, with the extra points pushed into a few stats.
  3. Psychic Terrain makes which type's moves 30% stronger? Choices: Dragon, Grass, Psychic, Fighting. Answer: Psychic. Protects Pokémon on the ground from priority moves and increases the power of their Psychic moves by 30%. Psychic Terrain makes Psychic moves 30% stronger and stops priority moves from hitting grounded Pokémon.
