Rankings and fan votes

Who Is the Best?

Two very different questions. By the numbers ranks Pokémon by their real base stats, so anyone can check the answer. Fan vote is about which Pokémon people love most, and there everyone’s opinion counts.

By the numbers: the top Pokémon by base stats

By the numbers: a data verdict worked out from base stats

Base stats are not everything. Moves, abilities, items, types, teamwork and a good strategy often matter more than any single number.

  • Best attacker: Ranked by base Attack, the stat that powers physical moves such as Earthquake and Close Combat. Number one: Kartana (181).
  • Best special attacker: Ranked by base Special Attack (Sp. Atk), the stat that powers special moves such as Flamethrower and Psychic. Number one: Xurkitree (173).
  • Fastest: Ranked by base Speed. In battle, the faster Pokémon usually moves first. Number one: Regieleki (200).
  • Tankiest: Ranked by a bulk score: HP × (Defense + Sp. Def). More HP and higher defences both mean a Pokémon can take more hits. Number one: Blissey (36,975).
  • Highest base stat total: Ranked by base stat total: HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def and Speed added together. Number one: Arceus (720).
  • Best of each type: For each of the 18 types, the Pokémon of that type with the highest base stat total. A Pokémon with two types appears under both.

  • Best non-Legendary: Ranked by base stat total, leaving out every Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. Number one: Slaking (670).
