By the numbers: a data verdict worked out from base stats

The best starter Pokémon by base stat total

All 27 fully evolved starter Pokémon (the final form of each first partner), ranked by base stat total. The final evolution of every main-series starter, Generation 1 to 9.

Base stats are not everything. Moves, abilities, items, types, teamwork and a good strategy often matter more than any single number. Starters are built to be balanced, so most totals sit within a few points of each other. Their moves, abilities and types matter far more than these small gaps.

Ties share a rank (shown as “=”), and inside a tie the lower Pokédex number comes first. Standard forms only: Mega Evolutions and other forms are not included.
