Alomomola

Alomomola is a Water-type Pokémon, the Caring Pokémon, number 594 (#0594) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 5 and comes from the Unova region. It is 1.2 m tall and weighs 31.6 kg.
Alomomola is the Caring Pokémon, a pink sunfish-like healer that closes the wounds of injured Pokémon with a special membrane and carries them to shore. The Pokédex cannot agree on why: one entry says the reason is unknown, another says it is wary of predators that follow the weak.

Lore
Biology
Alomomola is 1.2 m tall and 31.6 kg, with a heart-shaped pink body, darker pink markings and large hand-like fins on its back and underside, each split into four sections. Like an ocean sunfish it has no proper tail fin. A special membrane covers its whole body and can heal wounds.
Behaviour
Alomomola floats in the open sea and gently holds injured Pokémon in its fins to heal them before bringing them ashore. A crowd of Water Pokémon gathers around it. Fishers take one on long voyages, the Pokédex says, so that they need neither doctor nor medicine.
Habitat
The Pokédex says it floats on the open sea. In Scarlet and Violet it swims in the North Paldean Sea, and The Indigo Disk adds the Coastal Biome, Canyon Biome and Torchlit Labyrinth.
Powers
Alomomola has Healer, which gives it a chance each turn to cure an adjacent ally's status problem, or Hydration, with Regenerator hidden. It supports with Wish, Healing Wish, Helping Hand and Wide Guard. Its base HP of 165 is the highest of any Pokémon introduced in Generation V, but base Special Attack of only 40 makes it a pure support.
Name origin
Alomomola may combine 'aloha' (Hawaiian for love), 'mom' and Mola mola, the scientific name of the ocean sunfish. The Japanese name is Mamanbou (ママンボウ), possibly from 'mama' and manbō (ocean sunfish).
Design inspiration
Alomomola appears to blend an ocean sunfish with a heart standing for health. Its fins like hands, together with a heart-shaped body, may recall a Claddagh ring, and its healing may nod to doctor fish. These are fan readings.
In the games
Surfing in rippling water around Routes 4, 17 and 18 finds it in Black and White, where it debuted. In Alola it could be fished at Brooklet Hill, and Bulbapedia lists it as unobtainable in Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
Alomomola debuted in the first Black & White episode, 'In The Shadow of Zekrom!', and Bulbapedia says it was the first Pokémon Ash saw in Unova. In 'The Name's N!' N had a pair of Alomomola cure Pikachu's paralysis with Refresh.
Fun facts

- Fans guessed when Black and White came out that Luvdisc would evolve into Alomomola, since the two look alike and share a type, but it never did.
- Bulbapedia says the English dub of Sun & Moon mispronounces its name as Alolamola, possibly because it sounds like Alola.
