Buneary

Buneary is a Normal-type Pokémon, the Rabbit Pokémon, number 427 (#0427) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 4 and comes from the Sinnoh region. It is 0.4 m tall and weighs 5.5 kg.
Buneary is the Rabbit Pokémon, whose rolled-up ears work like a coiled spring: unroll them fast enough and the Pokédex says it can shatter a large boulder. Its arms and legs are weak, so the ears do all the work.

Lore
Biology
Buneary is 0.4 m tall and weighs 5.5 kg, a small, bipedal rabbit with a chocolate-brown upper body, a tan fleece on its lower body and a puff of a tail. It keeps one ear rolled up almost all the time. The Pokédex says it can strike the ground with its ears to bound high, and when nights turn chilly it sleeps curled up, head nestled in its fluffy fur.
Behaviour
Buneary shows its mood with its ears: it perks both up at danger, and the Pokédex says two rolled ears are a sign that its body or mind needs care. A Legends: Arceus researcher guesses it rolls them to protect its keen hearing, but other entries treat the roll as a weapon whose force grows with training.
Habitat
Bulbapedia says forests are its home, but it also turns up on icy mountains. In Legends: Z-A it roams Wild Zone 6 and the Bleu, Magenta and Vert districts, and in the Mega Dimension DLC it appears in Hyperspace Lumiose.
Powers
Run Away, Klutz and hidden Limber are its Abilities; before Generation V, only Buneary and Lopunny could have Klutz. It hits with Pound, Double Kick and Headbutt, uses Bounce and Quick Attack, and supports with Charm and Baton Pass. Base Speed is 85.
Name origin
Buneary combines 'bunny' and 'ear'. The Japanese name is Mimirol (ミミロル), which may combine mimi (耳, 'ear') and 'roll', for the rolled ears.
Design inspiration
Buneary looks like a rabbit. Bulbapedia also suggests a link to The Velveteen Rabbit, a toy that becomes real through being loved, echoing how Buneary must be bonded with to become Lopunny. This is a fan reading.
Evolution notes
Buneary evolves into Lopunny when it levels up with high friendship, with no level requirement.
In the games
Buneary first appeared in Diamond and Pearl, where it lives in Eterna Forest. It returns in Legends: Z-A with Lumiose Pokédex number 109, but it cannot be obtained in Scarlet and Violet.
In the anime
Dawn caught her Buneary in 'Setting the World on Its Buneary!'. In 'A Keeper for Keeps?', Lilia's Buneary falls for Clemont's Bunnelby.

Pokédex entries
My hypothesis as to why Buneary rolls up its ears is that its hearing is far too keen. I surmise that the Pokémon protects its hearing by limiting the sound that may enter its ears. (Legends: Arceus)
Buneary can attack by rolling up their ears and then striking with the force created by unrolling them. This attack becomes stronger with training. (Shield)
If both of Buneary's ears are rolled up, something is wrong with its body or mind. It's a sure sign the Pokémon is in need of care. (Sword)
The reason it keeps one ear rolled up is so it can launch a swift counterattack if it's attacked by an enemy. (Ultra Moon)
Its arms and legs are weak, but when it rolls its ears up tight and then unleashes them with its full force, it can smash boulders to dust. (Ultra Sun)
When it senses danger, it perks up its ears. On cold nights, it sleeps with its head tucked into its fur. (Pearl, Y, Alpha Sapphire)
