Espurr

Espurr is a Psychic-type Pokémon, the Restraint Pokémon, number 677 (#0677) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 6 and comes from the Kalos region. It is 0.3 m tall and weighs 3.5 kg.
Espurr is the Restraint Pokémon, a kitten with so much psychic power that it has to keep its ears folded to stop it leaking out. The Pokédex says it could blast everything within 90 m (300 feet), and that its blank stare hides a hard struggle to hold that power in.
How to pronounce Espurr
Espurr is pronounced es-PUR. The capital letters show the stressed syllable.

Lore
Biology
Espurr is 0.3 m tall and weighs 3.5 kg, with pale grey fur, white paws and ear tips, wide pale purple eyes and a fluffy, slightly curled tail. Its large folded ears shelter two ring-shaped yellow organs that give off its psychic energy. The Pokédex adds that it can pass out if the power builds up too much.
Behaviour
Espurr cannot steer its power at all and, the Pokédex says, finds that troublesome, even though it holds enough energy to send a wrestler flying. Its expression almost never changes, which the Pokédex reads as the face of someone working very hard to contain something huge.
Habitat
The Pokédex names no habitat. In Scarlet and Violet it arrives with The Indigo Disk, in the Coastal and Canyon Biomes at Blueberry Academy and in 1-star Tera Raids.
Powers
Its Abilities are Keen Eye, which stops its accuracy being lowered, and Infiltrator, which bypasses Light Screen, Reflect and Safeguard, with Own Tempo hidden. It learns Fake Out, Confusion, Psybeam and Light Screen. With 63 base Special Attack and 68 Speed it is a modest Pokémon whose real strength comes after evolving.
Name origin
Espurr may combine 'ESP', 'esper' and 'purr'. The Japanese name is Nyasper (ニャスパー), which may blend nyā, a cat's cry, with 'esper'.
Design inspiration
Espurr looks like a kitten, most likely a Scottish Fold, given its folded ears and lilac colouring. This is a fan reading, not an official statement.
Evolution notes
Espurr evolves into Meowstic at level 25, and its gender decides which of Meowstic's two forms it becomes.
In the games
In X and Y, Emma's Espurr, Mimi, pitches in for Looker and the player repeatedly in the Looker Bureau side quest, and Mimi is back with Emma in Legends: Z-A, set five years later. In Z-A, Espurr is also a wild Pokémon in Vert, Bleu, Magenta and Rouge districts and in the Mega Dimension DLC.
In the anime
Espurr debuted in 'Seeking Shelter from the Storm!' as the only resident of an abandoned mansion that had belonged to its late owner. Emma's Mimi first appears in 'Mega Evolution - Ult' and helps around the Looker Bureau.
Fun facts
- The same stock eye picture appears in the move animations for Baby-Doll Eyes, Tearful Look and Mean Look, and it seems modelled on Espurr's eyes, yet Espurr cannot learn any of them.
- In Pokémon Adventures, Emma's Mimi started as one of four Espurr with different expressions that a Team Flare Grunt used to stall the heroes; Emma named the last, confused one.
- In Japanese, Emma's Espurr is called Mokō (もこお), not Mimi.
