Lore
Biology
Lilligant is a humanoid flower, 1.1 m tall and 16.3 kg. On its head sits a crown-like scarlet flower with spotted white petals and golden filaments, over dark green leaves and a long light-green leaf at the back that looks like hair. Its dress is a tulip-shaped bunch of light green leaves, and it has dark green leaf arms and a golden sepal at the neck.
Behaviour
Other Pokémon like Lilligant for its beauty, and the Pokédex says it is popular with celebrities. The flower needs constant care, or it withers and rots. The Moon Pokédex says it also darkens, droops and withers as soon as Lilligant finds a male partner.
Habitat
Bulbapedia describes Lilligant as a rare forest dweller. In Scarlet and Violet it lives in Paldea's North, South and West Provinces.
Powers
Lilligant's Abilities are Chlorophyll and Own Tempo, with Leaf Guard hidden. It dances its way through battle with Petal Dance, Quiver Dance and Petal Blizzard, and fires Leaf Storm and Energy Ball. Its base Special Attack of 110 is the highest of any Generation V Grass type. Hisuian Lilligant is Grass and Fighting with Chlorophyll, Hustle and hidden Leaf Guard. It swaps Special Attack (down to 50) for Attack 105 and Speed 105, and fights with Victory Dance, Axe Kick and Close Combat. A Legends: Arceus entry suspects its long legs came from life on snowy mountains.
Name origin
Lilligant may combine 'lily' and 'elegant'. The Japanese name is Dredear (ドレディア), possibly from dress, dear, lady and Dianthus.
Design inspiration
Atsuko Nishida has said she thought of Lilligant while looking at lilies at home, and Bulbapedia notes the design was meant to give the feel of an 'extravagant princess'. Bulbapedia says its crown and dress may echo Western high-class fashion of 1750 to 1775, and its ball-gown lower half and dance moves suggest a ballroom dancer. Hisuian Lilligant may draw on a wild onion important to the Ainu people, or a ballerina or figure skater. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Lilligant evolves from Petilil with a Sun Stone. Using the stone in Hisui produces Hisuian Lilligant instead, so the form depends on where Petilil evolves.
In the games
Hisuian Lilligant appears in Legends: Arceus as one of the Noble Pokémon of the Crimson Mirelands. The original Lilligant first appears in Black and White. In Scarlet and Violet it is found in Paldea, including 4-star Tera Raid Battles, and the Hisuian form arrives only by Pokémon HOME after evolving in Legends: Arceus. Neither form is available in Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
In 'Beauties Battling for Pride and Prestige!', Mona's Lilligant, nicknamed Lilligantette, beat Cilan's Pansage before losing to Iris's Emolga. Lusamine's Lilligant first appeared in person in 'Rescuing the Unwilling!' under Nihilego's control.

- Victory Dance, Hisuian Lilligant's signature move, is known to no other Pokémon, Bulbapedia says.
