Lore
Biology
Oinkologne is a stout, quadrupedal hog, 1.0 m tall and 120 kg, with a glossy coat and strong leg muscles; the Pokédex says it can leap more than 5 m (16 ft). The male is grey-black and its tail ends in a bulb that releases a concentrated scent. The female has a dark brown coat, a lighter brown face and a tail ending in three long appendages. Both have pink eyelids, snouts, hooves and tail tips.
Behaviour
The Scarlet Pokédex says Oinkologne takes pride in its fine, glossy skin. Bulbapedia adds that the female likes to keep things tidy and goes about it meticulously.
Habitat
The Pokédex names no habitat. Serebii lists it in Paldea's grass and forest biomes, in parts of South, East and West Province and Tagtree Thicket.
Powers
Males have Lingering Aroma, an Ability no other Pokémon has, which changes the Ability of any attacker that makes contact with them to Lingering Aroma; females have Aroma Veil instead. Both can have Gluttony, and Thick Fat is hidden. Its moves include Earth Power, Belch, Double-Edge, Uproar and Dig. A male has base HP 110 and Attack 100; a female has HP 115 and Attack 90.
Name origin
Oinkologne may combine 'oink' with 'cologne', and may also involve bologna, a pork meat. The Japanese name is Perfuton (パフュートン), possibly 'perfume' and ton ('pig').
Design inspiration
Oinkologne appears to draw on Iberian pig breeds: the male's colouring echoes the black Iberian pig, while the female's fur pattern and the droopy ears of both genders echo the Celtic pig. The gender split may nod to truffle hunting, where only sows are trained to sniff truffles out; a male pig's sex pheromone also occurs in truffles. The tails look like a perfume atomiser (male) and a perfume tassel (female). These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Lechonk evolves into Oinkologne at level 18, and a male or female Lechonk becomes the matching form.
In the games
Oinkologne is found in the wild in Scarlet and Violet, where it first appeared, and it appears in 3-star Tera Raid Battles. It is not available in Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
Both genders debuted in the Horizons episode 'Mission: Find Oinkologne's Partner!': Renta's male Prince and Yuno's female Twirly took part in the Pigton Town Multi Battle Tournament.
