Lore
Biology
Slurpuff is a white, two-legged Pokémon, 0.8 m tall and 5 kg, topped with a mass of fluffy pink fur crowned by a red, cherry-like sphere. More pink fur forms ear-like puffs on either side of its head, and a wavy red collar circles its neck. It has stubby arms and small pink feet. The Pokédex says its fur holds so much air that it is soft and lighter than it looks.
Behaviour
Slurpuff is a helpful, nose-led Pokémon. It lends its sense of smell to pastry chefs, and from a person's scent alone it can work out their mental and physical state, a skill the Pokédex says people hope will have many medical uses.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Sword it appears in Max Raid Battles around Galar's Wild Area, and the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Lumiose has wild ones. It is not available in Scarlet and Violet.
Powers
Its Abilities are Sweet Veil and the hidden Unburden. It hits with Play Rough and Draining Kiss, fires Energy Ball, and sets up with Cotton Guard or Sticky Web. With base Attack 80, Special Attack 85 and Defense 86 it is a well-rounded, sturdy mixed attacker.
Name origin
Slurpuff may combine slurp and puff. The Japanese name is Peroream (ペロリーム), which may come from peropero, a licking sound, or perro, Spanish for dog, plus cream.
Design inspiration
Slurpuff may be based on meringue, with the red sphere on its head recalling the cherry on top, and perhaps cupcakes, which are sometimes called fairy cakes. Its look also seems to blend a lap dog with a stylised clown, and its head resembles a chef's hat. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Slurpuff evolves from Swirlix when Swirlix is traded while holding a Whipped Dream.
In the games
In X and Y, Slurpuff is something you have to earn by evolving Swirlix, and in the Legends: Z-A base game it is again an evolution only.
In the anime
Miette's Slurpuff, her main Pokémon, debuted in 'A Battle by Any Other Name!' and appears in every Pokémon Showcase she enters. Sawyer's Slurpuff fought Ash's Goodra in 'A Riveting Rivalry!', a battle that ended in a tie.
