Spewpa

Spewpa is a Bug-type Pokémon, the Scatterdust Pokémon, number 665 (#0665) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 6 and comes from the Kalos region. It is 0.3 m tall and weighs 8.4 kg.
Spewpa is a cocoon on the move: a Bug type wrapped in sharp white fur that bristles at predators, and that the Scarlet and Violet Pokédex says roams across fields and mountains while it builds up the energy to evolve.

Lore
Biology
Spewpa is 0.3 m tall and 8.4 kg, and most of it is hidden under sharp white fur flecked with little squares of red, black and pale yellow. Only its round head pokes out, light grey at the back with a darker grey face and a beige dot over each eye. The Pokédex says the beaks of bird Pokémon cannot scratch its stalwart body.
Behaviour
Spewpa hides in the shadows of thickets, and when predators attack it bristles its fur to threaten them. The Scarlet entry says that if Rufflet peck at it, it hits back with sharp fur and poisonous black powder. The Violet entry says it has no fixed home and wanders where it pleases.
Habitat
The Pokédex describes it hiding in thicket shadows while roaming widely. In Scarlet and Violet it is found in South Province (Areas One and Four), and in Legends: Z-A across Lumiose and in Hyperspace Lumiose in the Mega Dimension DLC.
Powers
Its Abilities are Shed Skin, which gives it a one in three chance of curing a status condition each turn, and the hidden Friend Guard. It starts with Protect and Harden and learns no attacking move by levelling up in Scarlet and Violet. Defense 60 is its best base stat, against Attack 22.
Name origin
Spewpa may combine 'spew' and 'pupa'. The Japanese name is Kofuurai (コフーライ), which may blend ko ('small' or 'powder') with furaijin ('wanderer').
Design inspiration
Spewpa is likely based on the larvae of Tineidae moths, such as carpet moths and case-bearing clothes moths, which build snug cases of fibres and hair that leave their heads exposed. Its protective fur may also echo the stinging hairs some caterpillars weave into their cocoons. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Spewpa evolves into Vivillon at level 12, only three levels after it evolved from Scatterbug, the same gap as Metapod, Kakuna, Silcoon and Cascoon.
In the games
In Legends: Z-A, Side Mission 021, 'Spewpa in the Museum', gives the player a single Spewpa at the Lumiose Museum, and Bulbapedia says it evolves into a Marine Pattern Vivillon. Spewpa first appeared in X and Y.
In the anime
In 'Seeing the Forest for the Trees!', Ash and Greninja save six Spewpa from a blizzard, which helped them master the Ash-Greninja form, and the Spewpa then evolve into Meadow Pattern Vivillon.
