Lore
Biology
Terrakion is a bull-like quadruped, 1.9 m tall and 260 kg. Two brown, axe-shaped horns sweep forward from a rounded black forehead above a beige face, which has orange eyes and a short snout. Two brown ridges meet over its humped back, orange knobs sit on its shoulders, and it has a stubby tail.
Behaviour
The Pokédex says Terrakion's great strength is turned on bullies, and that it shows no mercy to anyone or anything that picks on small Pokémon. The Black entry says it came to the defence of Pokémon left homeless by a war among humans, and Bulbapedia's retelling of the legend says it shaped the earth to create a passage to escape. It loves Terrakion Treats from Snacksworth, who once sat and enjoyed snacks with it.
Habitat
The Pokédex names no habitat. In The Indigo Disk expansion for Scarlet and Violet it appears in West Province Area One after Snacksworth gives you its treat. In Legends: Z-A it appears in Hyperspace Lumiose, in the Mega Dimension DLC, after a special scan.
Powers
Terrakion hits with Close Combat, Stone Edge, Rock Slide and Smack Down, and sharpens up with Swords Dance. Its only Ability is Justified. With base Attack 129, Speed 108 and HP 91 it is a fast, heavy-hitting physical attacker.
Name origin
Terrakion may combine terracotta, a brownish-orange colour, with possibly takin, a goat-antelope, and 'champion'. The Japanese name is Terrakion (テラキオン).
Design inspiration
Terrakion is based on Porthos from The Three Musketeers: like Porthos, it is the heaviest, largest and strongest of the trio. Its horns are modelled on axes, it borrows from bighorn sheep and oxen, and it charges like a bull. Its Rock typing may reference Porthos's long surname, which contains pierre, French for stone.
In the games
In Pokémon Rumble World, Terrakion is a Special Boss in the Black Realm's Rugged Flats. It first appeared in Black and White, where a single one waits in the Trial Chamber on Victory Road, and in Black 2 and White 2 it is on Route 22. In the Battle Maison of the Generation VI games, Battle Chatelaine Morgan uses one in the Super Rotation Battle.
In the anime
Terrakion starred in the film 'Kyurem VS. The Sword of Justice' with Cobalion, Virizion, Kyurem and Keldeo. Its first appearance in the TV series was a flashback in Horizons' 'The Wonders of the World!', showing it among the Pokémon living in the paradise of Laqua, and it reappeared in a flashback in 'Stellar Finale'.
