Learn the Pokémon type chart
Learn the Pokémon type chart with a flashcard trainer. All 18 types and 324 matchups, each with a short reason, spaced practice, and a weekly mastery badge. No sign-in.
How the Type Chart Trainer works
- Each flashcard asks one matchup, like “Water attacks Fire: how strong is it?”. There are 18 types, so 324 cards.
- Pick one answer: 2× (super effective), 1× (normal), ½× (not very effective) or 0× (no effect).
- A new card starts with a learn card that shows the answer and a short reason, so you never guess blind.
- A session is 10 cards. Cards you get right come back later and later. Cards you miss come back sooner (the Leitner box method).
- Get 6 of 10 right to pass a session. If not, you get a quick “learn again” for the cards you missed.
- Answer 30 cards right in a week to earn a mastery week, and master all of them for the Type Chart Master badge.

Questions and answers
What is the Pokémon type chart?
It is the table that says how much damage one type of move does to another type. There are 18 types, so there are 18 × 18 = 324 matchups. A move can do double damage (super effective), normal damage, half damage (not very effective) or no damage at all.
How does the Type Chart Trainer help me learn it?
It uses flashcards with spaced practice (the Leitner box method). A card you get right comes back later and later. A card you get wrong comes back sooner. Every new card starts with a learn card that shows the answer and a short reason, so you never guess blind.
How many cards are in a session?
A session is 10 cards. Cards that are due come first. New cards come in a few at a time, so you are never handed all 324 at once. Get 6 of 10 right to pass a session. If you do not pass, you get a quick “learn again” step for the cards you missed.
What is the weekly mastery badge?
Answer 30 cards correctly in one week to earn a mastery week. Each card counts once a day. Keep going for 4 weeks or 12 weeks for bigger badges. Master all 324 cards (every card in the top box) for the Type Chart Master badge.
Is the type chart in the trainer correct?
Yes. Every one of the 324 answers is checked against the type chart on pokee.si, and the short reason for each matchup is checked so it does not say the opposite of the answer. The trainer shows the current chart used in the main games (the 18 types including Fairy).
Is it safe for kids? Does it track them?
There are no accounts and no tracking. Your progress stays on your own device (and in your optional cloud save). The trainer asks for no personal details.
