Terastallization

Terastallization is the Generation 9 battle gimmick, from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (and Pokémon Champions). A Trainer uses a Tera Orb, and the Pokémon turns into a glittering crystal version of itself and changes into its Tera Type.

It happens at the start of a turn, lasts until the battle ends or the Pokémon faints, and a Trainer can only do it with one Pokémon per battle.

The big change is on defence: the Pokémon’s old types are removed. A Fire-type that Terastallizes into Water takes damage as a pure Water type.
