Bibarel

Bibarel is a Normal/Water-type Pokémon, the Beaver Pokémon, number 400 (#0400) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 4 and comes from the Sinnoh region. It is 1 m tall and weighs 31.5 kg.
Bibarel is a hard-working beaver that builds dams, and the Pokédex says a river it dams never overflows its banks, which the neighbours appreciate. It moves slowly on land but swims as fast as any Feebas, the Pokédex claims.

Lore
Biology
Bibarel is 1.0 m tall and weighs 31.5 kg. It is a bulky, upright beaver with brown fur, a tan bib on its chest, a tan face mask and a large, flat black tail with a wavy tan marking. A Legends: Arceus entry says its fur repels water and is also excellent at keeping heat in.
Behaviour
Bibarel is known as an industrious worker. It cuts up branches and roots with its sharp incisors, then stacks them with bark and mud to dam streams and build its nest. On land it is slow and awkward, but people living nearby are glad of the dams.
Habitat
The Pokédex says it dams rivers and streams to live in. In the Sinnoh games it is found by lakes and wetlands such as Lake Valor and the Great Marsh, and in Legends: Arceus around Tidewater Dam and other watery spots.
Powers
Bibarel shares Bidoof's Abilities: Simple and Unaware, with Moody hidden. Its Water-type side shows in Water Gun and Aqua Jet, while Crunch, Hyper Fang and Superpower cover its Normal side. With 85 base Attack and 79 HP it is a sturdy physical attacker.
Name origin
Bibarel may combine 'beaver' or the German Biber with 'barrel'. The Japanese name is Beadaru (ビーダル), perhaps from 'beaver' and taru, meaning barrel.
Design inspiration
Bibarel appears to be modelled on a beaver.
Evolution notes
Bibarel evolves from Bidoof at level 15.
In the games
In Legends: Arceus an Alpha Bibarel can be found near Tidewater Dam, and the species debuted in Diamond and Pearl. It is unobtainable in both Scarlet and Violet and Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
Multiple Bibarel debuted in 'Following A Maiden's Voyage!'. In 'Bibarel Gnaws Best!', a stonecutter's Bibarel, being trained by Isis, refuses to help build a bridge, and the episode reveals it knew the bridge was unstable.
