Doublade

Doublade is a Steel/Ghost-type Pokémon, the Sword Pokémon, number 680 (#0680) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 6 and comes from the Kalos region. It is 0.8 m tall and weighs 4.5 kg.
Doublade is the Sword Pokémon that appears when Honedge splits in two: a pair of swords that talk to each other by telepathy and switch between attack and defence. The Pokédex says even an expert swordsman cannot stop the intricate attack patterns of its two blades.

Lore
Biology
Doublade is two swords with silver blades, light grey hilts and a pink gem eye in each, standing 0.8 m tall and weighing 4.5 kg together. Long purple sashes with pink swirls grip two brown sheaths that are joined to a shared plaque, and Bulbapedia says the pair's lines form a triquetra pattern.
Behaviour
Honedge divides into the pair as it evolves, and the Pokédex says the two blades cooperate by telepathy to coordinate attacks that slash enemies to ribbons, rapidly alternating between offence and defence to bring down prey. When the blades are rubbed together, the metallic sound they make unnerves opponents.
Habitat
The Pokédex names no habitat. Doublade is unobtainable in Scarlet and Violet, but in Legends: Z-A it is found in Lysandre Labs in Magenta District.
Powers
Like Honedge, its only Ability is No Guard. With 150 base Defense and 110 base Attack but just 35 Speed, it is a sturdy, hard-hitting and slow fighter. It learns Shadow Sneak, Sacred Sword, Iron Head and Swords Dance.
Name origin
Doublade may combine 'double' and 'blade'. The Japanese name is Nidangill (ニダンギル), which may blend ni ('two'), nidan ('second stage'), dan ('to sever'), and kiru ('to cut') or 'kill'.
Design inspiration
Bulbapedia credits Hitoshi Ariga with the design of the whole line. The crossed swords and the shield-like plaque joining them suggest a coat of arms, and, like Honedge, the pair may echo the possessed blades of Japanese samurai tales. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Doublade evolves from Honedge at level 35 and becomes Aegislash when a Dusk Stone is used.
In the games
In X and Y Doublade can only be had by evolving Honedge. In Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra it can show up in Max Lair Dynamax Adventures, and Legends: Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC adds it to the Steel zones of Hyperspace Lumiose.
In the anime
Argus Steel's Doublade debuted in the film 'Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction', where his daughter Millis often uses it for transport. Sawyer's Honedge was revealed to have evolved into Doublade in 'A Full-Strength Battle Surprise!', where it lost to Ash's Noivern.
