Durant

Durant is a Bug/Steel-type Pokémon, the Iron Ant Pokémon, number 632 (#0632) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 5 and comes from the Unova region. It is 0.3 m tall and weighs 33 kg.
Durant, known as the Iron Ant Pokémon, has a Bug and Steel typing and digs maze-like nests through mountains, defending them with jaws that can crunch rock. When Heatmor attacks, every ant in the colony plays a different part in driving it away.

Lore
Biology
Durant is a 0.3 m, 33 kg ant with a steel body in three sections, studded with rivet-like circles. Two large mandibles sit below red eyes, and the Pokédex says they can crunch through rock. It has six black legs, and the front pair end in double claws.
Behaviour
Bulbapedia calls Durant extremely territorial. Pokédex entries say each ant takes a different role in driving off Heatmor, its natural predator, and that they cover themselves in steel armour to attack in groups. The Shield entry adds that colonies cooperate to keep Sandaconda away from their eggs, and Bulbapedia says a Durant will not chase an intruder once it has left the colony.
Habitat
The Pokédex says Durant dig their nests in mountains and build the tunnels into mazes. In the games it lives in places like Victory Road, Twist Mountain and Terminus Cave.
Diet
Bulbapedia says it prefers leaves, as seen in the anime.
Powers
Durant bites with Bite and Crunch, slashes with X-Scissor and Iron Head, and toughens up with Iron Defense. Its Abilities are Swarm and Hustle, with Truant hidden. With base Attack 109, Defense 112 and Speed 109 it is quick and hard-hitting, though its Special Attack and Special Defense are both only 48.
Name origin
Durant may combine 'durable' or durus (Latin for 'hard') with 'ant'. The Japanese name is Aiant (アイアント), which may come from アイアン aian ('iron') and 'ant'.
Design inspiration
Durant is based on an ant, perhaps a trap-jaw ant for its jaws, given a steel body. Bulbapedia says Ken Sugimori designed it alongside Heatmor and that the two can be seen as counterparts: a Fire type like Heatmor hits Durant for four times normal damage. Bulbapedia also suggests its Abilities Hustle and Truant may reference studies showing that some ants in a colony work hard while others are lazy.
In the games
Durant lives on Victory Road in Black and White and was catchable again in Black 2, White 2, X and Y, and Sword and Shield, where it lives in the Expansion Pass's Crown Tundra area. In Generation VII it could only arrive through Pokémon Bank, and it is unobtainable in Scarlet, Violet and Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
A swarm of Durant debuted in 'Battling the Leaf Thieves!', where they accidentally carried off Iris's Axew while gathering food. Goh caught one in 'Everybody's Doing the Underground Shuffle!'.
