Igglybuff

Igglybuff is a Normal/Fairy-type Pokémon, the Balloon Pokémon, number 174 (#0174) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 2 and comes from the Johto region. It is 0.3 m tall and weighs 1 kg.
Igglybuff is the baby Balloon Pokémon that adores singing but is not yet very good at it, so the Pokédex says it should rest its throat and gargle stream water. Its soft, bouncy body smells faintly sweet, like a marshmallow.

Lore
Biology
Igglybuff is a small, balloon-like baby, completely pink, with a rounded tuft of hair, a swirl-like mark on its forehead and red eyes. It is 0.3 m tall and weighs 1 kg. Its body turns a deeper pink when it heats up or sings non-stop. Its sweat has a sweet smell that calms foes' emotions, and it is so elastic that once it starts bouncing it may be unable to stop.
Behaviour
Igglybuff practises singing constantly because it wants to improve, even singing in its dreams. Its vocal cords are underdeveloped, so too much singing gives it a sore throat. With praise and encouragement it gets better little by little.
Habitat
Bulbapedia says it lives in grasslands near freshwater streams. In Scarlet and Violet it is found around Paldea's South Province, and in Legends: Z-A it appears wild only in the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Lumiose.
Powers
Cute Charm can infatuate attackers, Competitive sharply raises its Special Attack when its stats are lowered, and its hidden Ability is Friend Guard. It learns Sing, Pound and Charm. With base HP 90 but Defense 15, it is only a stepping stone to its evolutions.
Name origin
Igglybuff may combine 'jiggly' or 'wiggly' with 'buff', a pale, soft, flexible leather. The Japanese name is Pupurin (ププリン), which may blend puchi (petite) and purin (pudding), a nod to its soft body.
Design inspiration
Igglybuff seems to be a balloon, since its body inflates. Its soft body and singing may echo musical plush toys that lull children to sleep, and its round shape recalls a powder puff or cream puff. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Igglybuff evolves into Jigglypuff through high friendship, and Jigglypuff becomes Wigglytuff with a Moon Stone. Igglybuff is a baby Pokémon and cannot breed.
In the games
Igglybuff guest-stars with Cleffa in a Pokémon Stadium 2 quiz-show mini-game, and in Explorers of Sky the special episode 'Igglybuff the Prodigy' lets you play a young Guildmaster Wigglytuff as an Igglybuff. It first appeared in Generation II.
In the anime
The twin Igglybuff Gigglybiff and Gigglybuff debuted in 'Same Old Song and Dance', where Brittany used them for a concert while Jigglypuff grew jealous. In 'The Brockster Is In!', Normajean's Igglybuff was poisoned by a Tentacruel and healed by Brock's Chansey.
