Lore
Biology
Iron Jugulis is 1.3 m tall and weighs 111 kg. Its body is dark blue, with black plating like fur around its necks and six thin black wings. Each head has a screen for a face that glows blue and shows its emotions, and the main head also has fuchsia pupils and pointed teeth made of armour plates. The Violet Pokédex is cautious: it suggests that an object in an old book could really be this species.
Behaviour
An in-game magazine reports, without proof, that one flattened a whole building with a burst of energy and flew away as if hunting for its next target, and it calls the Pokémon a Hydreigon's ferocity joined to a machine's ruthlessness. Bulbapedia says its side heads seem to be sentient, since they have been seen reacting with emotion, dozing off and glancing in different directions. When it sleeps, it powers down and the magenta glow on its neck plates, belly and tail turns black.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat, but the magazine places it in a certain corner of Paldea. In Violet it is found in Area Zero, and Scarlet players can only get one by trade.
Powers
Its Ability Quark Drive raises its highest battle stat, Special Attack, on Electric Terrain or when it holds Booster Energy. It uses Hyper Voice, Dragon Breath, Air Slash, Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse and Hyper Beam, and Bulbapedia says its side heads can be fired like missiles. With 122 Special Attack and 108 Speed it is a fast, hard-hitting special attacker.
Name origin
Jugulis comes from the Latin jugulum, 'throat' or 'neck', and Bulbapedia says Iron Jugulis stands alone among Paradox Pokémon in having a Latin word in its English name. The Japanese name is Tetsunokoube (テツノコウベ), which Bulbapedia reads as 'iron head'.
Design inspiration
Bulbapedia says Iron Jugulis is based on Hydreigon and, by extension, probably on many-headed dragons and serpents such as Yamata no Orochi, the Lernaean Hydra and Zahhak. The screens on its heads resemble LED displays, and its detachable heads may nod to drones or to mechanical kaiju. No designer is credited, and these are fan readings.
In the games
Iron Jugulis headlined a Tera Raid spotlight event alongside Flutter Mane, after debuting in Scarlet and Violet. It is not available in Legends: Z-A.
