Lore
Biology
Iron Hands is 1.8 m tall and weighs 380.7 kg, heavier than any other Fighting type. It is a light grey machine with a deep blue head crest crossed by ten black lines, a dark faceplate with yellow eyes, and yellow panels on its shoulders, belt, legs and palms. Its two giant three-fingered hands each have a yellow circle on the back. The Violet Pokédex says it shares many similarities with an object called Iron Hands in an expedition journal.
Behaviour
An in-game magazine says the iron-handed entity in the Violet Book had fists that moved on their own and could hurl large, fast vehicles. Iron Hands has been seen pressing its palm panels together to release energy and hovering a short way above the ground to run or turn. When it sleeps, Bulbapedia says, it connects its hands to its body and the yellow glow turns black.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Violet it is found in Area Zero, and Scarlet players can only get one by trade.
Powers
Its Ability Quark Drive raises its highest battle stat, Attack, on Electric Terrain or when it holds Booster Energy. It starts with Arm Thrust and later learns Fake Out, Thunder Punch, Wild Charge, Close Combat, Belly Drum and Focus Punch, with Drain Punch by TM. Bulbapedia notes its 154 HP is the highest of any Fighting, Electric or Paradox Pokémon and its 140 Attack the highest of any Paradox Pokémon, while its Special Attack and Speed of 50 are the lowest of any Paradox. It is a very bulky, slow bruiser.
Name origin
The English name means hands made of iron. The Japanese name is Tetsunokaina (テツノカイナ), which Bulbapedia reads as 'iron arms'.
Design inspiration
Bulbapedia names Hariyama, the sumo-style Fighting type, as its base. Its yellow panels resemble LED displays. No designer is credited, and these are fan readings.
In the games
Iron Hands is one of the Paradox Pokémon of Area Zero in Scarlet and Violet, its debut games, and has appeared in Tera Raid spotlight events. It is not available in Legends: Z-A.
Fun facts
