Lore

Biology

Meditite looks like a person in a yoga pose: 0.6 m tall and 11.2 kg, it sits with its knees bent, feet together and hands on its knees. Its legs and body are blue with white wrists and feet, and its onion-shaped head is white, with big eyes and a pink oval on each cheek. Its round, swirled ears are set higher on males than on females.

Behaviour

Meditite is a disciplined trainer that does its yoga every day without fail. The Emerald Pokédex says this dedication has built its spiritual power to the point where it can fly, and other entries say meditating lets it float in the air.

Habitat

The Pokédex says it trains deep in the mountains. In Scarlet and Violet it lives in Paldea's South Province, West Province and Alfornada Cavern, and in Legends: Z-A it is found in Jaune District's Wild Zone 6.

Diet

One berry a day. The Pokédex says eating so little is part of its training, and that enduring hunger tempers its spirit and sharpens its senses.

Powers

Meditite's Ability is Pure Power, which doubles its Attack, with Telepathy hidden, which protects it from friendly Pokémon's attacks. It fights with Confusion, Force Palm, Zen Headbutt and High Jump Kick, and Detect and Work Up help it set up. It is a fragile first stage, with only 280 base stats in total.

Name origin

Meditite may combine 'meditate' with 'petite' or 'tyke', and could also play on 'tight' as in tight focus. The Japanese name is Asanan (アサナン), which may come from asana, a yoga posture, and perhaps nan ('soft').

Design inspiration

Meditite appears to be modelled on a yoga practitioner, and its sitting pose matches the lotus position, said to keep the mind steady. Bulbapedia suggests its head covering may recall a turban, or the headwear in pictures of meditating Hindu gods such as Shiva. These are fan readings.

Evolution notes

Meditite evolves into Medicham at level 37.

In the games

In Scarlet and Violet, Meditite appears in 2-star Tera Raid Battles, and the Mega Dimension DLC adds it to Hyperspace Lumiose. It first appeared in Ruby and Sapphire.

In the anime

Meditite debuted in 'A Meditite Fight' as Shauna's Pokémon, which lost to Ash in their second battle. Maylene's Meditite battled Dawn's Buneary and Ambipom in 'Crossing the Battle Line!'.
