Lore
Biology
Miltank is a pink, two-legged cow, 1.2 m tall and 75.5 kg, with a yellow belly and udder, black angular markings, a dark hood-like marking around its face and two small horns. It has long floppy ears and a tail tipped with a black sphere. It can only be female. The Pokédex says it gives 19 litres (5 gallons) of milk a day, or more.
Behaviour
Miltank must be milked every day or it falls ill, and the Pokédex says the flavour of its milk changes with the seasons. The richer the pastures it lives in, the tastier the milk. Drink too much and you may gain weight or a stomach ache. The Sword Pokédex says its nutritious milk has long sustained people and other Pokémon alike.
Habitat
The Pokédex habitat is grassland, and Bulbapedia adds that it is raised on farms. It can be found in Sword and Shield's Isle of Armor, and it is unobtainable in Scarlet and Violet and in Legends: Z-A.
Powers
Miltank has Thick Fat or Scrappy, with Sap Sipper hidden. It curls up for Rollout and Defense Curl, heals with Heal Bell and Milk Drink, and slams with Body Slam and Play Rough. Bulbapedia says it was the only known Pokémon able to learn Milk Drink before Generation VI, and again in Generation VIII. With 105 Defense and 100 Speed it is both tough and quick.
Name origin
Miltank may combine 'milk' and 'tank', a container for liquid. The Japanese name is Miltank (ミルタンク), spelled the same way in English letters.
Design inspiration
Miltank looks like a dairy cow. Bulbapedia says it shares traits mainly with Jersey and Holstein Friesian cattle.
In the games
Miltank is the signature Pokémon of Whitney, Goldenrod City's Gym Leader. It debuted in Gold and Silver, where a herd lives on Moomoo Farm and one Miltank is ill until you feed it enough Berries, and in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon a Miltank in Paniola Town gives you Moomoo Milk once a day.
In the anime
Whitney's Miltank debuted in 'A Goldenrod Opportunity', where Rollout took down every one of Ash's Pokémon. In 'A Dairy Tale Ending', Ash finally beat it with Pikachu.
