Morpeko is a Electric/Dark-type Pokémon, the Two-Sided Pokémon, number 877 (#0877) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 8 and comes from the Galar region. It is 0.3 m tall and weighs 3 kg.

Lore
Biology
Morpeko is 0.3 m tall and weighs 3 kg, a chubby rodent with stubby arms and feet, pink cheek pouches and a pattern on its back like a Pikachu's tail. In Full Belly Mode it is creamy yellow with one black and one brown patch of fur. In Hangry Mode it turns purple with red, slanting eyes, both fur patches black and a snarl.
Behaviour
Morpeko treats its electrically roasted seeds as treasures. Its stomach is small, so it is hungry again almost at once, and the Pokédex says prolonged hunger shifts its hormones and turns it violent until it has eaten. In the anime, a fully fed Morpeko refuses more food and attacks anyone who offers it.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat. In Violet's The Teal Mask it is wild across Kitakami, including Apple Hills, Oni Mountain and Reveler's Road, while Scarlet players have to trade for it.
Diet
Seeds, which it keeps in its fur pouches and eats constantly; the Pokédex says eating them also generates its electricity.
Powers
Its only Ability is Hunger Switch, which flips it between Full Belly and Hangry Mode at the end of each turn. Bulbapedia says only Morpeko can use Aura Wheel, Electric in Full Belly Mode and Dark in Hangry Mode. Legends: Z-A has no Abilities, so there it changes form after using Aura Wheel. Its base Speed is 97.
Name origin
Morpeko may combine morumotto ('guinea pig') and hara peko ('hungry'), and 'Hangry' is a blend of 'hungry' and 'angry'. The Japanese name is the same, Morpeko (モルペコ).
Design inspiration
Morpeko may be based on a golden hamster with some guinea pig, or on the Norway lemming. Its seed pockets echo rodent cheek pouches, Aura Wheel may nod to a hamster wheel, and its two sides may recall Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. These are fan readings.
In the games
Morpeko is the first Pokémon of the rival Marnie in Sword and Shield, the games that introduced it, and it follows her around outside battle. In Legends: Z-A it is wild only in the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Lumiose.
In the anime
Morpeko debuted in 'Sobbing Sobble!', where it stole Team Rocket's food and later used Aura Wheel to launch them skyward. James caught it in 'Take My Thief! Please!'.
