Lore
Biology
Passimian is 2.0 m tall and weighs 82.8 kg. It is a powerfully built, lemur-like Pokémon with white fur, black markings and a pale green helmet like half a coconut shell, with an orange blaze and two leaves. It sticks leaves to its shoulders and chest with saliva, and the Ultra Sun entry says their position shows which troop it belongs to.
Behaviour
Passimian travel in troops of around 20, each member with its own job, and the boss passes techniques down to the group. The Pokédex says they follow the boss's orders when searching for their favourite Berries and will never let down a comrade. Bulbapedia says some flee the hard training, and that a captive Passimian refuses to obey a Trainer with poor Poké Ball throwing form.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat. In the games it is found in Alola's Lush Jungle, Galar's Glimwood Tangle, and Paldea's North Province and Tagtree Thicket.
Diet
Berries are the staple of its diet, according to the Pokédex.
Powers
Receiver lets it take on the Ability of an ally that faints, and its hidden Ability Defiant sharply raises its Attack when its stats are lowered. Bulbapedia says it throws hard Berries to do damage and soft ones to block an opponent's view; in the games it learns Beat Up at level 15, Fling at 30 and Close Combat at 50. With 120 Attack and 100 HP it is a sturdy physical fighter.
Name origin
Passimian may combine pass and simian, and may also play on prosimian. The Japanese name is Nagetukesaru (ナゲツケサル), which may blend nagetsukeru (to throw) and saru (monkey).
Design inspiration
Passimian may be modelled on a lemur, most closely the black-and-white ruffed lemur. It may also nod to American football quarterbacks, in keeping with its passing.
In the games
Passimian is a Sun exclusive from its debut in Sun and Moon, and Bulbapedia says it is also exclusive to Ultra Sun, Sword and Violet. It appears in 3-star and 5-star Tera Raids, but it is not available in Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
The Melemele Greens, a troop led by Tiny, debuted in SM064, an episode that Bulbapedia says aired only in Asia, where Ash dresses up as a Passimian to help them win back their territory in a Berry-tossing game. In 'All Out, All of the Time!' Goh caught a Passimian.
