Lore
Biology
Plusle is 0.4 m tall and 4.2 kg, a two-legged, cream-coloured Pokémon with red markings. Its nose is a small dot, each round red cheek carries a cream plus sign, and its long, flat ears are mostly red. Its stubby limbs have no separate digits, its front paws are red, and its short tail ends in a red plus sign.
Behaviour
Plusle shorts out the current in its palms to make sparkling pom-poms, which it waves to cheer on its teammates. When a teammate puts in a good effort it crackles with joy. It also scales telephone poles to drink in their electricity. Bulbapedia says it has even been seen waving its pom-poms in its sleep, and thinks it may be dreaming of cheering for others.
Habitat
Grassland, in the Pokédex's habitat categories. In Scarlet and Violet it is available through trade or Pokémon HOME, and in the wild in The Indigo Disk's Terarium, in the Canyon and Polar Biomes and Chargestone Cavern. It is not in Legends: Z-A.
Powers
Plusle's Ability is Plus, which boosts its Special Attack when a friendly Pokémon has Plus or Minus, and its hidden Ability is Lightning Rod. It uses Spark and Thunder, supports with Helping Hand, Encore and Charm, and Nasty Plot sharpens its Special Attack. Base Speed of 95 and Special Attack of 85 make it the offensive half of the pair.
Name origin
Plusle may come from 'plus', for positive electric charge, and may also be a partial anagram of 'pulse'. The Japanese name is Prasle (プラスル).
Design inspiration
Bulbapedia suggests Plusle may be modelled on a cheerleading mouse, chipmunk or rabbit, and it might also be a positive electric charge in animal form. These are fan readings.
In the games
In Pokémon Colosseum, Plusle is Duking's favourite Pokémon and chooses to join Wes after he rescues it from Cipher, and in Pokémon Ranger it is Solana's Partner Pokémon. It first appeared in Ruby and Sapphire.
In the anime
Plusle debuted alongside Minun in 'A Different Kind of Misty!', both owned by Thatcher, whose job was to guard a lighthouse, and who was training them as cheerleaders in 'Cheer Pressure'. In 'The Green Guardian', Solana's Plusle acts as her Partner Pokémon.
