Lore
Biology
Scovillain is a bipedal chili plant, 0.9 m tall and 15 kg, with two bell-pepper-like heads on green, stem-like necks. Usually the right head is red and angry-looking while the left is light green and mischievous. The Pokédex says spicy chemicals stimulate its brain: the green head turns vicious, while the red head turns them into fire energy and sprays the area with scorching, spicy flame.
Behaviour
Once Scovillain goes on a rampage, the Pokédex says there is no stopping it. The Pokédex also says the heads have different temperaments and fight in different styles, yet work together flawlessly in a fight.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat, but Serebii lists Desert and Mountain biomes in Paldea. In Scarlet and Violet it is found in the North Province, South Province Area Six and Dalizapa Passage.
Powers
Its Abilities are Chlorophyll and Insomnia, with Moody hidden. It breathes Flamethrower and Overheat, fires Seed Bomb and Solar Beam, and bites with Crunch; Bulbapedia says it is the only known Pokémon able to learn Spicy Extract. Mega Scovillain, from the Mega Dimension DLC, grows spikes, turns suit-black and swings a jagged, glowing necktie to whack foes, and its Spicy Spray Ability belongs to no other Pokémon. With 108 base Attack and Special Attack it hits hard on both sides, rising to 138 when it Mega Evolves, but its defences are only 65.
Name origin
Scovillain may combine Scoville, the scale that measures how hot a chili is, with villain. The Japanese name is Scovillain (スコヴィラン).
Design inspiration
Bulbapedia reads the red head as a ripe chili and the green head as an unripe, milder one, and links the head shape to the habanero, with a possible nod to the Carolina Reaper. The two faces may echo the comedy and tragedy theatre masks, and its hands-on-belt stance may recall a gunslinger before a duel. These are fan readings, not official statements.
Evolution notes
Capsakid evolves into Scovillain when exposed to a Fire Stone.
In the games
Mega Scovillain arrived in the Mega Dimension DLC for Legends: Z-A, where Scovillain is found in Hyperspace Lumiose, with Hyperspace dex number 15; Bulbapedia adds that the base game can obtain it only by trade. Scovillain debuted in Scarlet and Violet, where it also appears in 4-star Tera Raid Battles.
In the anime
In Pokémon Horizons a Scovillain first appeared in 'Shine on, Terastallization! Liko vs. Roy!'. In 'The Knight in the Ruins' one ran away from its Trainer after constant use of the Strong Sphere and went on a rampage until Liko subdued it; that episode also revealed that a Scovillain's heads can swap colours or even match.
