Lore
Biology
Skitty is a stumpy-bodied pink cat, 0.6 m tall and 11 kg, with four short legs, tufted ears with purple insides and a cream crescent marking on its face. Its slender tail ends in a bulky pink section tipped with three pin-like points with yellow ball ends. In battle the tail puffs out and it warns foes off with a sharp growl.
Behaviour
Skitty cannot resist moving objects, and the Pokédex says it runs in circles chasing them, tail included. Its cute looks and antics make it very popular, though its trust is said to be hard to win. In the wild it nests in tree holes in forests.
Habitat
The Pokédex lists Skitty as a forest Pokémon, and Bulbapedia places it in tropical and temperate woodland. It cannot be obtained in Scarlet and Violet or in Legends: Z-A.
Powers
Skitty's Abilities are Cute Charm, a 30% chance of infatuating anything that hits it, and Normalize, which turns all its moves Normal; Wonder Skin is hidden. It learns Sing, Attract, Charm, Heal Bell and Play Rough, and can inherit Fake Out. Its stats are modest, with 50 base HP and Speed, and it mainly exists to reach Delcatty.
Name origin
Skitty may combine 'skittish' and 'kitty'. The Japanese name is Eneco (エネコ), which may blend enokorogusa (green foxtail, a plant its tail resembles) and neko ('cat').
Design inspiration
Skitty seems modelled on a kitten, with a tail like a cat toy, and may also recall foxtail grass or a pin holder. The moon-shaped mark on its face may allude to the nocturnal life of cats, and its short legs compare to those of munchkin cats. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Skitty becomes Delcatty when given a Moon Stone.
In the games
In Pokémon Ranger, Teresa of Fall City owns six Skitty that run away, and she sends the player to fetch them back during the second numbered mission. Skitty first appeared in Ruby and Sapphire.
In the anime
May's Skitty made its anime debut in 'I Feel Skitty!' when May caught it. Bulbapedia describes it as ditzy and mischievous, forever getting into trouble with other Pokémon.
