Lore
Biology
Trubbish looks like a dark green bin bag, with the knot at the top serving as ears. It has oval eyes and jagged triangular teeth like broken glass, and its arms are spills of rubbish with pink and blue objects poking out. It is 0.6 m tall and weighs 31 kg. The Pokédex says the gas it belches can send a person to sleep for a week.
Behaviour
Trubbish follows people who litter, wanting more rubbish, and the Pokédex says it may even move into a messy room. In the anime its ear-like tufts stand up when it is startled, lift when it is happy and droop when it is sad.
Habitat
The Pokédex says it likes unsanitary places, and Bulbapedia lists dumps among them. Games place it around Malie City in Alola and among the bins of the Lost Hotel in Kalos.
Diet
The Pokédex says it gorges on rubbish until its stomach is full.
Powers
Its Abilities are Stench, which gives its hits a 10% chance of making the target flinch, and Sticky Hold, which stops its held item being taken. The hidden Ability Aftermath hurts anything that knocks it out with a contact move. It learns Sludge Bomb, Gunk Shot and Belch. Its best base stat is Speed at 65.
Name origin
Trubbish may blend 'trash' and 'rubbish'. The Japanese name is Yabukuron (ヤブクロン), which may combine words for tearing and for a bag.
Design inspiration
Trubbish is based on a rubbish bag. Bulbapedia, citing Nintendo Dream magazine, says it and Garbodor were meant to stand for pollution in cities.
Evolution notes
Evolves into Garbodor at level 36.
In the games
Trubbish roams the districts of Lumiose City in Legends: Z-A and also appears in the Mega Dimension DLC's Hyperspace Lumiose, though it is not available in Scarlet and Violet. It debuted in Black and White, where it lives on Routes 5 and 16.
In the anime
Trubbish debuted in 'Here Comes the Trubbish Squad!', where a class of kindergartners adopted one and found that its stench fades around people it trusts. In 'Healing the Healer!' Pokémon hunters used one to poison a lake and lure out Suicune.
