Lore
Biology
Conkeldurr is 1.4 m tall and 87 kg, an ogre-like, sepia-coloured brute with a big red nose, a heavy brow, a grey tuft on its chin and thick violet bands across its shoulders, chest, back and thighs. It carries a concrete pillar in each arm and uses them like walking canes.
Behaviour
The Pokédex says Conkeldurr relies on skill rather than strength, mastering moves that swing concrete around using centrifugal force. At full effort it drops its pillars and jumps in to punch its opponents.
Habitat
Conkeldurr is commonly spotted at construction sites. In Black and White you can only get one by evolving a Gurdurr, though Sword and Shield has wandering ones at Motostoke Riverbank.
Powers
Its Abilities are Guts and Sheer Force, with Iron Fist hidden. It learns Hammer Arm, Superpower and Focus Punch by level, plus Drain Punch and Close Combat by TM. A base HP of 105 and Defense of 95 let this brawler take hits before it dishes them out.
Name origin
Conkeldurr may combine 'concrete' and 'elder', and could also involve 'conk', meaning both a big nose and a knock on the head. The Japanese name is Roubushin (ローブシン), possibly from rō (old) with bushin (warlord) or fushin (construction work).
Design inspiration
Its brutal humanoid look suggests the ogres of European folklore. The swollen parts on its shoulders may represent a niō-dasuki, a style of sash used in aragoto kabuki to show strength, and its chin tuft and pillar canes suggest an elderly man.
Evolution notes
Evolves from Gurdurr when traded, with no item needed, and is the final form of Timburr.
In the games
In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, Conkeldurr is the Area Keeper of the Tech Area. It first appeared in Black and White. In Scarlet and Violet it appears in 5-star and 6-star Tera Raid Battles in The Teal Mask, and Gurdurr can evolve into it there. It is unobtainable in Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
Trip's Conkeldurr debuted in 'The Clubsplosion Begins!' and was soon beaten by Bianca's Emboar, which flung concrete pillars at it with Fling. In 'The Forest Champion!', Machamp tricked a Conkeldurr and an Ursaring into teaming up against Hawlucha.
