Cosmog

Cosmog is a Psychic-type Pokémon, the Nebula Pokémon, number 789 (#0789) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 7 and comes from the Alola region. It is 0.2 m tall and weighs 0.1 kg.
Cosmog is the Nebula Pokémon, a drifting cloud of gas so light that the Pokédex says the slightest breeze can carry it off. Ages ago the people of Alola called it the child of the stars, and it is the first stage of the line that ends in Solgaleo or Lunala.

Lore
Biology
Cosmog's body is a cloud of gas that shades from violet to light blue, like a nebula. A black patch in the middle holds its face, with small yellow eyes and round blue cheeks, and a golden half-circlet runs across the top and the bottom of its body. It is 0.2 m (0'08") tall and weighs 0.1 kg (0.2 lbs).
Behaviour
Cosmog is highly curious but careless, and the Pokédex says it often puts itself in danger, then teleports away when things look dicey. Bulbapedia says it is trusting and quickly takes to anyone who is kind to it, even if that person has poor motives.
Habitat
The Pokédex gives no habitat; it says Cosmog came from another universe, or another world. In Sun and Moon one waits at the Lake of the Sunne (Sun) or the Lake of the Moone (Moon), and in Scarlet and Violet it arrives only by transfer from Pokémon HOME or from an event. It is unobtainable in Legends: Z-A.
Diet
The Pokédex says it grows slowly by gathering dust from the air.
Powers
Its only Ability is Unaware, and its only moves are Splash and Teleport. Bulbapedia says it can tear open Ultra Wormholes under great strain, which is dangerous enough to leave it immobile for a long time or even kill it. With a base stat total of only 200, it is no fighter.
Name origin
Cosmog may combine cosmos or cosmogony with fog or smog; Bulbapedia notes that, in-universe, a professor at the Aether Foundation named it. The Japanese name is Cosmog (コスモッグ).
Design inspiration
Bulbapedia says Cosmog may be modelled on a molecular cloud, the kind of nebula where stars form.
Evolution notes
Cosmog evolves into Cosmoem at level 43. Bulbapedia says Solgaleo and Lunala can create Cosmog, probably as a kind of reproduction.
In the games
Lillie's companion Nebby is a Cosmog and is central to the story of Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. In Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra a woman in Freezington gives you one as a reward.
In the anime
A Cosmog nicknamed Nebby debuted in 'A Dream Encounter!', where Ash found it and took care of it.

- Apart from Struggle, neither Cosmog nor Cosmoem can damage an opponent, and no other Pokémon is in that position.
- In the anime Nebby made history as the first Legendary Pokémon to belong to a main character.
