Dragonite

Dragonite is a Dragon/Flying-type Pokémon, the Dragon Pokémon, number 149 (#0149) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 1 and comes from the Kanto region. It is 2.2 m tall and weighs 210 kg.
Dragonite is the Dragon and Flying Pokémon the Pokédex calls the Sea Incarnate, a gentle giant that rescues drowning people and Pokémon and can circle the globe in 16 hours. Anger it, though, and the Pokédex says it smashes everything in sight.

Lore
Biology
Dragonite is 2.2 m tall and 210 kg. Bulbapedia describes light orange skin, a cream belly, two thin antennae with a small horn between them, thick limbs and small teal wings. The FireRed Pokédex says it flies in spite of its big, bulky body.
Behaviour
The Pokédex says Dragonite is kindhearted: it leads lost ships through storms to land, and the Shield entry notes that many ships carry figureheads shaped like it. The Sun entry tells of one that carried a shipwrecked man to a remote island occupied only by Dragonite.
Habitat
Several Pokédex entries say Dragonite lives somewhere out at sea, and its habitat category is Water's Edge.
Powers
Dragonite has the Ability Inner Focus, with Multiscale hidden. It starts with Extreme Speed and learns Outrage, Dragon Dance, Hurricane, Fire Punch and Thunder Punch. Its base Attack of 134 is the highest in Generation I. Mega Dragonite, from Legends: Z-A, uses the Dragoninite and borrows from Dragonair: feathery head wings, a pearl near its tail and base Special Attack 145. The Z-A Pokédex says Mega Evolution boosts its kindness.
Name origin
Dragonite may combine 'dragon' with 'knight', 'night' or 'draconite', a mythical stone from dragons' heads shaped like a pyramid, as its horn is. The Japanese name is Kairyu (カイリュー), which may come from 海竜 kairyū ('sea dragon').
Design inspiration
Dragonite's role as a sea guardian may echo Chinese and Japanese dragons, which are shown as lucky and in control of water and weather, and its yellow colouring may allude to the Yellow Dragon of Chinese myth. Physically it resembles a classic European dragon, and Bulbapedia sees a link to giant kaiju film monsters. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Dragonite evolves from Dragonair at level 55, the final step of the line that begins with Dratini.
In the games
Dragonite has been the end of the Dratini line since Generation I, and in Pokémon Ranger, once captured, it becomes the Dragonite Bus that flies you between Ranger bases. In Pokopia a Dragonite teaches Ditto to glide. In Legends: Z-A it waits in Wild Zone 20 as an Alpha Pokémon and Mega Dragonite debuts, while in Scarlet and Violet it lives in North Province Area Two, at Casseroya Lake and in 5-star and 6-star Tera Raids.
In the anime
Dragonite first showed up as a mystery giant in 'Mystery at the Lighthouse'. Drake's Dragonite is the ace that Ash faces in the Orange League final in 'Hello, Pummelo!' and 'Enter The Dragonite', and Ash catches his own newly evolved Dragonite in 'A Test in Paradise!'.
