Drednaw

Drednaw is a Water/Rock-type Pokémon, the Bite Pokémon, number 834 (#0834) in the National Pokédex. It was introduced in Generation 8 and comes from the Galar region. It is 1 m tall and weighs 115.5 kg.
Drednaw, the Bite Pokémon, is a snapping turtle of Water and Rock type with jaws the Pokédex says can shear through steel rods and crush a boulder in one bite. Its Gigantamax form is the subject of a Galar tale about stopping a flood with a chewed-up mountain.

Lore
Biology
Drednaw is 1.0 m tall and weighs 115.5 kg. It is a large, four-legged turtle with a shell of rock, and the Pokédex says its neck is retractable and shoots out rapidly so the fangs can take down distant enemies. Bulbapedia says its strong muscles let it move fast despite the heavy shell.
Behaviour
Drednaw is highly aggressive, and the Pokédex calls its disposition extremely vicious. It lurks along the shoreline, and when prey come to drink it stretches out its neck and chomps down. Bulbapedia says it takes a skilled Trainer to handle one, and some Trainers release theirs into the wild.
Habitat
The Pokédex places it along shorelines. Serebii lists swamp, lake and river biomes in Paldea and lakes and rivers in Kitakami (The Teal Mask), with Casseroya Lake a fixed spot.
Powers
Drednaw has Strong Jaw or Shell Armor, with Swift Swim hidden, and Strong Jaw suits it well: it bites with Crunch and Jaw Lock and slams with Head Smash. Liquidation and Rock Tomb cover its Water and Rock types. Gigantamax Drednaw becomes bipedal, with a longer spiked tail and a head hidden inside its body, and the Pokédex says it crushes foes before finishing them with its jaws; it is the only known Pokémon that can use G-Max Stonesurge. With base Attack 115 it is a hard-hitting physical attacker.
Name origin
Drednaw may combine 'dread', 'gnaw' and 'dreadnought', a type of warship. The Japanese name is Kajirigame (カジリガメ), which may join kajiritsuku ('to bite into') and kame ('turtle').
Design inspiration
Drednaw looks modelled on the common snapping turtle, borrowing some traits, apparently, from the alligator snapping turtle, and its horn resembles a cleaver. Bulbapedia suggests Gigantamax Drednaw resembles a dreadnought, and that its boat-like underside and armoured top recall early ironclad warships. These are fan readings.
Evolution notes
Drednaw evolves from Chewtle at level 22 and is the final stage.
In the games
Nessa, the Water-type Gym Leader of Hulbury, finishes with Drednaw, Dynamaxing it in her Gym battle and Gigantamaxing it in later battles in Sword and Shield, where it debuted. In Scarlet and Violet it appears in 4-star Tera Raid Battles and in Paldea and Kitakami, and it is not available in Legends: Z-A.
In the anime
Drednaw debuted in 'Flash of the Titans!', where Team Rocket's failed capture attempt makes it Gigantamax and rampage through Wyndon Stadium. Ash and Goh face it in 'The Climb to Be the Very Best!', until Pikachu Gigantamaxes to beat it.
